Winona Ryder Caught Shoplifting Again

Hollywood actress Winona Ryder is back to her five-finger-discount ways, caught shoplifting once again in a U.S. department store.

The National Enquirer is reporting today that Ryder was stopped by a security guard outside the unnamed store and found to be carrying a small haul of stolen make-up, which she was asked to give back and then let go without being charged.

You might remember that way back in 2002, the 36-year-old Little Women star was busted stealing over $5,000 worth of clothing from a posh Beverly Hills boutique, a crime for which she was sentenced to 480 hours of community service. During the trial, Ryder famously announced that she was simply “getting into character for a film role,” and wasn’t really stealing the items in question.

This time Winona was caught shoplifting only a few items of make-up, nothing like the $5,000 haul of her past.
“Winona had a bag of stuff, but she set off the theft alarm when she left the store. When a security guard stopped her, he found make-up she had not paid for,” a store employee told the Enquirer.

Instead of blaming a film role, Winona told the security guard, “I don’t know how that happened,” when he asked her about the stolen goods. Gee, that’s original!

Winona’s publicist has since denied the theft ever took place, but after a store employee confirmed it to the magazine, she was forced to “check again” with her client. No new statement has been made on the matter at this stage.
