Basically, the site has been getting so many visitors, that it kept killing the VPS server it was hosted on. There was really only two solutions to the problem, upgrade to an expensive dedicated server, or close the site down. Obviously, closing the site was not something we wanted to do, so we had to upgrade to a dedicated server.

Here I was trying to figure out why the site was always so slow on the VPS.
