Britney Still Plagued By Lip-Syncing MTV Disaster

Despite being svelter and more performance-hardened than her infamous 2007 comeback attempt at the MTV Awards, Britney Spears is still being plagued by her lip-syncing, sleepwalking disaster.

The singer, who celebrated her 27th birthday with a dual performance on Good Morning America today, was unable to shake the demons of her disastrous 2007 show, with critics slamming Spears for yet another “wobbly” act.

One tabloid said that Spears had “[yet again] lip-sync[ed] and stumble[d] her way through her songs”.

Her former energetic dance routines were also missing from the mix, with the singer “stumbling” around onstage like some kind of drunk “sleepwalker”.

Not that this made much difference to her die-hard fans. They were just so happy to see their favourite idol back and looking fantastic – and she did look fantastic – that they chose to overlook her short-comings (for the time being).

Let’s hope that with a bit more practice, Spears will be back to her old, rockin’ self.

A noticibly “beefier” Christina Aguilera managed to hit a few of her trademark high notes during a performance at the Trump International Hotel and Tower party in Dubai.

The new mum even got a little “dirrty” on stage!

Country Music Hates Jessica, Too

Looks like Jessica Simpson’s switch from pop to country wasn’t a very good move, after all.

The former pop star and sometimes-actress gave her first country performance on Saturday, when she opened for Sara Evans at the Country Thunder USA festival in Randall, Wisconsin, and was booed by the audience!

Simpson performed a slew of tunes, including Willie Nelson’s On The Road Again and You’re My Sunday, which she dedicated to partner Tony Romo, who was hiding somewhere in the crowd. She also sang her new single Come On Over, a track which has been met with mixed reactions since its release.

Before she began, Simpson had a little one-on-one with the audience in an attempt to talk down rumours of her mediocrity.

“I don’t know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I’m just a girl from Texas,” she told the crowd. “I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and dating a boy.”

However, her cheery opener was soon forgotten the moment she opened her mouth. Fans of the singer thought her performance was weak, and there was more booing than applause for the blonde starlet by the end of her stint on stage.

One witness quipped: “I’ll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert.”

Another went a tad bit further, remarking: “[Simpson is] an embarrassement to country music!”

Ouch!

Britney to Join Madonna on Tour?

In a bid to resurrect Britney Spears’ flailing career, pop queen Madonna has asked the troubled singer to join her on her upcoming ‘Sticky and Sweet’ tour.

Spears and Madonna reportedly met up in New York City on Sunday to record a special video that will be broadcast on the big screens throughout Madge’s 2008 tour. No one’s sure exactly what’s in the video, but sources have revealed that it will be used as the backdrop of Madonna’s show.

“They [recorded] a video together on Sunday that will provide the backdrop for part of Madonna’s show,” a source explained.

“And they are talking about Britney taking the stage on a few of the dates too.”

Added the source: “It’s hoped that Madonna can help Britney get back to her old self.”

I wonder if we can expect a repeat of their infamous MTV Music Awards performance from 2003?
