The singer was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest in Los Angeles earlier today. Unconfirmed reports told that CPR had been performed in the ambulance prior to arrival at UCLA Medical Centre.

UPDATE: TMZ has “unofficially” confirmed Jackson’s death. Officials on the scene say Jackson was without a pulse when they found him in his L.A. home, and they were unable to revive him. His parents are said to be at UCLA Medical Centre, where they are awaiting news of their son’s condition. Except a statement from a representative of the Jackson family soon.

The 62-year-old, most known for her role in the television series Charlie’s Angels, died in hospital shortly before 1:30 a.m. (AEST), according to reports.

Fawcett’s publicist Arnold Robinson released a statement on O’Neal’s behalf:

“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away.

“Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

O’Neal spoke with People magazine after the statement was released, telling them that he talked with Fawcett throughout the night.

“She’s now with her mother and sister and her God,” he said. “I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night.

“I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.”

Macaulay Culkin’s sister, Dakota, has died after being hit by a car in Los Angeles yesterday.

According to TMZ, 29-year-old Culkin was walking on the west side of Los Angeles on Tuesday, when she stepped off a curb and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. She was taken to the nearby UCLA Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

No arrests have been made as yet, but the accident is under investigation by the LAPD.

Culkin’s rep issued a statement on behalf of the family, confirming that the victim was in fact Dakota Culkin.

“We can officially confirm that the victim is Dakota Culkin,” the statement read. “This is a terrible tragic accident. We have no further comment at this time.”

The loss of Culkin’s sister caps off a bad year in Hollywood, losing acting greats like Heath Ledger and Paul Newman, as well as fellow actor Mark Ruffalo losing brother Scott to a tragic accident earlier in the week.

Scott Ruffalo, the brother of actor Mark Ruffalo, has died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head last week.

Very little information is known about the shooting at this stage, except that the two shooters – Brian Scofield and Shaha Mishaal Adham – turned themselves into the Beverly Hills PD yesterday.

Legendary author Michael Crichton has died at the age of 66.

Crichton, who wrote more than a dozen best-sellers in his career – most notibly Jurassic Park – lost his battle with cancer in Los Angeles on Tuesday, his family said in a statement.

“Michael Crichton died unexpectedly in Los Angeles Tuesday, November 4, 2008 after a courageous and private battle against cancer,” the statement read.

As well as his novels, which sold over 100 million copies worldwide, Crichton was also the creator behind the hit international medical drama, E.R..

Legendary Soul Singer, and father of cool, Isaac Hayes has died in Memphis at 65.

Hayes’ wife, found him unconscious at his home, and rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hayes, who would have turned 66 on August 20 won an Academy Award in 1972 for his hit, ‘Theme from Shaft’.

More recently, Hayes has found new fame as the voice of Chef in South Park, before leaving the show due to its attacks on Scientology.

Legendary film director and producer Sydney Pollack has died of cancer, aged 73.

Diagnosed with cancer 10 months ago, Sydney passed away on Monday, at his home in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles, with family members by his side.

As well as being a renowned director and produced, Sydney also was an actor who appeared in movies up until 2007.

He won producing and directing Oscars for the epic romance Out of Africa, starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep, in 1985 and directed Tootsie, where he played Dustin Hoffman’s agent.

An 18-year-old British actor with a role in the upcoming Harry Potter film has died after being stabbed during a fight outside a London bar.

Rob Knox was killed on Saturday during a fight with a number of youths in the south-eastern suburb of Sidcup, police have revealed. A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Knox’s parents, Colin and Sally, have since released a statement, labeling the young actor as “kind and respectful.”

“Rob was kind and thoughtful and would always help out others,” the statement said. “The life and soul of the party, he was very outgoing, loved sports, and would always strike up a conversation with people.

“He was respectful to others and adored by all his family and friends.”

Friends involved in the fight have come forward with eyewitness reports, claiming that they believe the knife fight which took Knox’s life was a “revenge attack” over a “row over the phone” from the previous week.

“Rob was just trying to help out,” 18-year-old Tom Hopkins said. “He was like that. I grabbed the knife, I didn’t know at the time that [the attacker] had another knife. It was just chaos.”

Hopkins was stabbed in the head in the scuffle, which began outside a bar in Sidcup when the youths saw a man waving two knives around through the window. Knox allegedly lost his life trying to protect his brother, Jamie, who was also involved in the fight.

Warner Bros, the film studio behind the Harry Potter movies, has also released a statement on the young actor’s tragic death. “We are all shocked and saddened by this news and at this time our sympathies are with his family,” a rep for the studio said.

Knox had only recently finished filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with high-profile co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. In the film, the 18-year-old plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby.
