While the dust seems to have finally settled on Michael Jackson and his family after the singer’s June 25 death, his mother Katherine is reportedly mulling over filing a wrongful death suit in connection with the singer’s fatal cardiac arrest.

If a wrongful death suit is filed, it will more than likely be against Dr. Murray, who has admitted to injecting Jackson with the powerful hospital-grade anesthetic drug Propofol just hours before the singer suffered a heart attack and died.

Katherine Jackson’s lawyer, Burt Levitch, said in a statement today:

“The possibility of a wrongful death action has been floated. In that regard, no decision has been finalized.

“Dr. Murray’s name has been floated [as a possible defendant in the potential lawsuit] because he is under investigation.”

At this stage in the investigation into Jackson’s death, his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is still the prime suspect in any manslaughter charges that may be brought against those medicos who had provided the King of Pop with dangerous anesthetics to use in his home.

Dr. Conrad Murray is now likely to be convicted in the death of Michael Jackson, as Dea agents, LAPD and Las Vegas police descend on his Las Vegas home and office, armed with more search warrants.

A law enforcement official told FOXNews.com that the gated community of Jackson’s personal physician, and his office Global Cardiovascular Associates, were searched early Tuesday morning in the hopes of finding the evidence needed to formally charge him with manslaughter.

The day before, another law enforcement official told the news network that investigators in the case believed Murray was the one who had given Jackson the fatal dose of Propofol, just hours before his cardiac arrest on June 25. It is this dose the powerful sedative that is thought to have been the primary cause of death, which means that Murray, being the doctor who prescribed and administered it, would be liable for a manslaughter charge.

Murray’s lawyer, however, has said that the doctor “didn’t prescribe or administer anything that should have killed Michael Jackson.” When asked about the LAPD’s anonymous statements to the contrary, lawyer Edward Chernoff added: “We will not be commenting on rumours, innuendo or unnamed sources.”

However, while Chernoff remains adamant that his client isn’t any more of a suspect in the death of Michael Jackson than any of the doctors the late singer had in his service over the years, the lawyer did confirm that there had been multiple searches carried out by both police and agents alike at the doctor’s home and office.

“The search warrant authorized investigators to look for medical records relating to Michael Jackson and all of his reported aliases,” Chernoff’s statement read. “Dr. Murray was present during the search of his home and assisted the officers. Investigators left Dr. Murray’s home around 12 noon, seizing cell phones and a computer hard drive.”

Murray’s office in Houston was searched prior to his home in Las Vegas, with the search warrant stating that authorities on the scene were to look for “property or items constituting evidence of the offense of manslaughter that tend to show that Dr. Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offense.”

Both warrants were said to have been granted based on the preliminary toxicology reports, which at this stage have pinpointed Propofol as a contributing factor in Jackson’s death.

While the official toxicology findings are still days – maybe weeks – away, investigators are “working under the theory” that the sedative caused Jackson’s heart to stop, a source revealed. At this stage, law enforcement officials have been able to determine that the King of Pop had been using the powerful drug – hospital grade, and never intended for home use – for about two years. Since Dr. Murray only cam into Jackson’s service in May of this year, investigators are busily trying to find out how many other doctors illegally prescribed and administered the drug to the singer.

From the court documents, which label Dr. Conrad Murray as the prime suspect in the manslaughter investigation, Jackson “relied on Propofol like an alarm clock,” and would have the drug administered in an IV drip by a physician when he went to sleep. The IV drip would be stopped when it was time for the singer to wake up.

On the day of Jackson’s death, Dr. Murray was staying in singer’s Los Angeles mansion and “happened to find” an unconscious Jackson in his bedroom. Chernoff, Murray’s lawyer, said the doctor “tried to revive” the pop star by “compressing his chest” with one hand while supporting his back with the other.

His revival attempts were in vain, and Jackson died of a drug-assisted cardiac arrest on June 25.

Michael Jackson’s death will “almost certainly” be ruled as a homicide, according to gossip site TMZ.com.

The reports suggest that the L.A. County Coroner is “scheduled” to release the autopsy results pertaining to Jackson’s June 25 cardiac arrest mid-next week, after the coroner receives the final toxicology report from an “outside consultant.” Although the results are yet to be finalized, law enforcement sources have revealed that all causes other than homicide – natural, accidental, accidental overdose, and suicide – have been ruled out in the case of Michael Jackson.

Last week’s double raiding of the offices of Dr. Conrad Murray (who was with Jackson when he died) led the media to believe that the LAPD were treating Jackson’s death as a homicide, and with the news from the County Coroner’s office today, it is highly likely that one or more persons will be charged in connection with the King of Pop’s death.

At this stage, Dr. Murray is the prime suspect, and is “actively being investigated” as the person who administered Propofol, the powerful anesthesia that the LAPD suggest caused Jackson’s heart to stop.

Jackson’s sister, La Toya, has been adamant from the very beginning that her brother’s death was no ordinary accident – labeling his shock passing as “murder” – and when the L.A. County Coroner’s ruling comes out next week, the Jackson family are expected to launch a law suit (or suits, depending on the outcome) against those responsible for his death.

Michael Jackson’s family will sue for his wrongful death, regardless of the outcome of the criminal investigation into his June 25 cardiac arrest, a source has revealed.

While the cause of Jackson’s death is yet to be determined, his family members have decided, after many a private discussion, that they will sue whoever they feel is responsible for his death.

At this point in time, because the criminal investigation is still on-going, it is unknown who the defendant – or defendants – will be in the wrongful death suit; however, it is alleged that the Jackson family are “taking a hard look” at the various doctors who treated Michael in the weeks leading up to his death last month.

“They [family members] not only want jail time for anyone who contributed to Michael’s death, they also want to make them pay, literally,” a source close to the Jacksons told RadarOnline.com.

“They are determined to sue, even if there is no arrest.”

Who is at the top of their list? The doctor at the scene of the crime, who was with Jackson when he died at his Los Angeles home, Dr. Conrad Murray.

Murray’s office has already been searched twice by the LAPD, making him a prime target for the Jacksons and their wrongful death case, as well as a prime target in the criminal investigation.

As the news reports and rumours surrounding Michael Jackson’s shock death on June 25 keep pouring in, biographer Diane Dimond has added another, claiming an “unnamed family source” informed her that the singer had a cancerous lesion removed from his nose just days before he suffered an alleged cardiac arrest.

“Last week, I had two real sources call me and say he’s getting surgery right now for removal of skin cancer off his nose,” Dimond revealed. “This is not a man who suffers pain well. He likes painkillers. So he got some from here, he got some from there – who knows how much.”

While this new information could prove vital for those investigating the King of Pop’s death, it’s merely one of many instances over the last month of his life involving high doses of narcotic painkillers.

Other sources have revealed that in his final months, Jackson was suffering from extreme insomnia, and had become practically nocturnal in his sleeping habits. When the rehearsals for the tour hit full swing, however, it “totally screwed up his system.”

“For the past 15 years, Michael always slept until 3 or 4 in the afternoon and was up all night,” the source said. “When he started rehearsals for the tour, it totally screwed up his system.”

In order to rise earlier and sleep less, Jackson began adding stimulants to his “daily drug regimen,” the source added. One such stimulant is believed to have been the powerful hospital-grade drug, Diprivan, which the singer’s former nurse Cherilyn Lee “repeatedly” refused to give to Jackson.

Lee is adamant that she never obtained the drug for the singer, however, a strange phone call she received from Jackson and his people just four days before his shock death has left her to believe that he’d somehow managed to obtain Diprivan or another similar drug.

The phone call, from a minder of Jackson’s was very frantic, Lee said, and told her, “Michael needs to see you right away. I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ And I could hear Michael in the background… ‘One side of my body is hot, it’s hot, and one side of my body it cold. It’s very cold.’

“I said, ‘Tell him he needs to go to the hospital,’” Lee recalls. “‘I don’t know what’s going, but he needs to go to the hospital… right away.’

“At that point I knew that somebody had given him something that hit the central nervous system. He was in trouble Sunday and was crying out.”

Jackson did not go to the hospital as Lee had instructed, and four days later, the singer had died from a suspected heart attack.

In the wake of pop superstar Michael Jackson’s death, professionals closest to the late Australian actor Heath Ledger have revealed how the star “battled with fame, a failed relationship and insomnia” in the days leading up to his tragic death in 2008.

Gerry Grennell, a vocals coach who worked and lived with Ledger during the filming of one of his last movies, The Dark Knight, has said that while the actor didn’t drink alcohol “once” during that period, the level of his sleeping pill consumption “was a concern.”

“I’d say: ‘If you can possibly bear it to stop taking the medications, do, because they don’t seem to be doing you any good’ – he agreed,” Grennell told Vanity Fair magazine.

“It is very difficult for me to imagine how close he came to not taking them.”

Ledger died in January of last year from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, including a host of sleeping medications, in his New York apartment at the age of 28.

Grennell believes that the sleeping medication – taken for the actor’s incurable insomnia – played a huge part in his shock death.

“[Ledger's death] was a combination of exhaustion, sleeping medication… and perhaps the after-effects of the flu,” the vocals coach said.

Nicola Pecorin, a cinematographer who worked with Ledger on the film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, admitted that the young actor had “dabbled” in narcotics but soon dropped the habit.

“He used to smoke marijuana on a regular basis,” she said, “like probably 50 per cent of Amercians [but Ledger] went clean as a whistle.”

Close friend and agent Steven Alexander said that around the time of his death, Ledger was quite concerned that his role in the “summer blockbuster” The Dark Knight would typecast him and turn him into a “matinee idol,” something the young star had never wanted to become.

“He wasn’t motivated by money or stardom but by the respect of his peers [and moviegoers],” Alexander explained.

“He was striving to become an ‘illusionist’ as he called it – able to create characters that weren’t there.”

Pop star Britney Spears has made light of the number of recent celebrity deaths, jokingly posting a notice of her own passing to her official Twitter account moments ago.

The Womanizer singer, who has just announced plans to tour Australia for the first time in her career, posted a picture of a rudimentary black cross via TwitPic, with the caption: “Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.”

This tweet comes hours after American television pitchman Billy Mays was found dead in his Tampa home, and days after Hollywood lost the shining lights of Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Ed McMahon.

UPDATE: The tweet has since been removed from Spears’ official Twitter page. No doubt her management got wind of the tweet and removed it before it could offend any members of those families who’ve lost loved ones over the last week.

UPDATE # 2: It appears Britney Spears’ Twitter account was hacked earlier today, and the offensive tweet was posted by an unknown hacker. Twitter has since disabled the ability to upload mobile photos via TwitPic.

The eldest son of Michael Jackson, Prince Michael Jr., thought his pop star father was simply joking around when he collapsed on the living room floor and went into cardiac arrest, a source close to the family has revealed.

PMJ – Prince Michael Jr., 12 – reportedly watched Dr. Murray’s frantic attempts to revive his father while “in a trance,” believing up until the last minute that it was all just a big joke orchastrated by his father, who loved to clown around with his children.

Jackson family biographer Stacey Brown explained:

“The horror of it all is that Prince thought his dad was just being his dad and clowning, but it was real, and he watched as they worked on him.

“Prince was stunned — in a trance — just watching.

“There was no movement, just looking around and not really processing what was really happening.”

At the time of his death, Jackson was staying in a $120,000-a-month L.A. rental home with his three children, his personal cardiologist, Dr. Conrad Murray, a security guard and his manager, Frank DiLeo. Prince Michael Jr. was the only child present for Jackson’s death; the other two children, Paris and ‘Blanket,’ were in another area of the house at the time of their father’s collapse.

It was left up to DiLeo to tell the other children that their father had died, a task the manager labeled as the “single most painful moment of [his] life.”

DiLeo said: “Whatever anyone thought of Michael, he was loved by those children, truly loved. They were — and are — in pieces.”

A spokeswoman for Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist who was with Michael Jackson when he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, has said that he is “in no way a suspect” in the singer’s death.

Murray spent three hours with detectives yesterday meticulously going through the events which led up to the King of Pop’s shock collapse and subsequent death.

The doctor “helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies,” his spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik said in a statement. “Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy.”

Los Angeles police have confirmed that they interviewed Murray, but would not comment further on his status as a “person of interest,” only adding that the cardiologist was cooperative and “provided information which will aid the investigation.”

The coroner who performed the original autopsy (before the Jacksons sent their son’s body to a private medico for further anaylsis) has stated that there was no evidence of foul play, and that while it could take a month or more to receive the official results, has labeled Jackson’s death as nothing more than a tragedy.
