Katie Holmes has narrowly escaped injury during a mishap on the set of her upcoming film, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, currently in production on Australia’s south coast.
The actress, who recently made her dancing debut on American reality show So You Think You Can Dance?, was shooting a scene inside a car at Victoria’s Docklands when the vehicle’s battery exploded over the weekend.
The battery allegedly sparked a couple times before emitting dangerous fumes and smoke, which eventually turned into a fire that engulfed the entire car.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is a Miramax remake of the 1973 ABC made-for-television film of the same name, in which Holmes’ character is stalked by evil gnomes. Sounds thrilling.
Unfortunately, the exploding battery isn’t part of the film.

Michael Bay Made Megan Fox Wash Ferrari for Transformers Audition
Michael Bay certainly has a strange way of conducting auditions for his films.
Australian actress Isabel Lucas auditioned in the front seat of his car.
Megan Fox auditioned on his car. And Bay filmed it.
According to Jason Solomons of Britain’s Guardian, Fox’s first Transformers audition involved the buxom brunette washing Bay’s Ferrari… while he filmed it.
“[Bay] made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her,” Solomons said. “[Fox] said she didn’t know what had happened to that footage. When I put it to Bay himself, he looked suitably abashed – ‘Er, I don’t know where it is either.’”
Sounds like someone’s taken that particular video for their private collection. Hmm.

Hollywood couple Victoria and David Beckham were lucky to walk away without injury following a horrific car accident in France on Friday.
The pair were on their way to Nice airport to catch a flight to Beijing when the accident occurred. Becks reportedly smashed their black BMW “laterally” into a wall, shattering the windscreen and crumpling panels along the passenger side, where Victoria was sitting.
No other vehicles were invovled in the accident.
Becks was photographed by paparazzi consoling a “tearful” Victoria, who was quite shaken after the crash. However, because of the extensive damage to the vehicle, Becks and his wife’s father, Tony Adams, were forced to rush to the airport so that he could make his flight to Beijing, where he would be performing in the closing ceremony.
Victoria was left on her own to handle the wrecked car.

Morgan Freeman Seriously Injured in Car Accident

Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman has been seriously injured in a car accident over the weekend.
The 71-year-old is in “a serious condition,” after the 1997 Nissan Maxima he was driving went off the edge of the road on Mississippi Highway 32 at around 11:30 p.m on Sunday night. The car overturned “several times” before finally coming to a stop, Sgt. Ben Williams of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.
Freeman and his passenger – identified by police as Demaris Meyer – were freed from the vehicle using the jaws of life, and were then airlifted to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.
Hospital rep Kathy Stringer refused to comment on the nature of Freeman’s injuries, and issued a short statement earlier today.
“All I can say is one word: his condition is ’serious’,” Stringer said.
There was no information given on the status of the other passenger.
An eyewitness on the scene when Freeman was pulled from the car revealed that the Dark Knight actor was “conscious [and] coherent.”
“He was talking,” the witness, Clay McFerrin, said. “He even seemed to have a sense of humour.”
The accident is currently under investigation by the local authorities. No cause has been determined as yet, but police have ruled out the involvement of drugs and alcohol.

Following on from Drew Barrymore’s car accident in West Hollywood…
Britney Spears has reportedly just rear-ended a car on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills!
The pop tart is believed to have hit a red Ford Explorer, driven by a lady. No one was injured in the minor crash, but there was some panel damage done to the other driver’s vehicle. Spears’ bodyguard got out and talked to the woman the Toxic singer hit, while Brit stayed in her car.
Britney was stopped at a set of lights on Sunset Boulevard when the crash occurred, and accelerated for some reason while the lights were still red, hitting the Ford Explorer with the front of her car.
At the present time, the Ford Explorer involved in the crash is following Spears back to her home.

Jerry Seinfeld was in a rollover wreck but was unhurt after the brakes on his 1967 Fiat BTM failed.
Seinfeld tried the handbrake, which had no effect, and then swerved to keep the car from going into an intersection, causing it to flip over.
Seinfeld laughed it off, saying:
“Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do,” the Post quoted him as saying. “It is not something I plan to make a habit of.”
