It has been announced that a private funeral for actress Farrah Fawcett will be held on Tuesday.

The private service will be held at 4 p.m. (local time) at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, chuch officials have confirmed.

The actress, best known for her role in cult 70’s series Charlie’s Angels, passed away on Thursday after a long and painful battle with cancer at the age of 62.

Fawcett’s longtime partner Ryan O’Neal was at the actress’ bedside when she finally succumbed to the disease.

The 62-year-old, most known for her role in the television series Charlie’s Angels, died in hospital shortly before 1:30 a.m. (AEST), according to reports.

Fawcett’s publicist Arnold Robinson released a statement on O’Neal’s behalf:

“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away.

“Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

O’Neal spoke with People magazine after the statement was released, telling them that he talked with Fawcett throughout the night.

“She’s now with her mother and sister and her God,” he said. “I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night.

“I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.”

Former Big Brother U.K. star Jade Goody has died in her sleep after a very public battle with cervical cancer.

Goody’s agent, Max Clifford, made the announcement a short time ago after receiving the confirmation from the 27-year-old’s mother, Jackiey Budden.

“It’s just very sad,” Clifford said, on the verge of tears. “We got very close and I’ve got a lot of respect and admiration for the girl. She was a 27-year-old girl facing up to cervical cancer.”

Clifford received a phone call from Budden shortly after 3 a.m. this morning, who told him: “My beautiful girl has gone.”

Ironically, Goody passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning – Mother’s Day in Great Britain – after agreeing to live the last weeks of her life in the public eye to give her sons the best possible chance at a future free from financial struggle.

The controversial reality television star first learned that she had cancer whilst competing in the Indian version of Big Brother.

Whatever your opinion of Goody, I am sure you will all join me in sending your condolences to her family, husband and sons, who now face life without such a strong, vibrant character in their lives. May you rest in peace, Jade.

Patrick Swayze has reportedly stopped all medical treatment for his cancer.

The National Enquirer is reporting that doctors told Patrick there was little left that they could do to halt the progress of his illness.

Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 12 months ago. The prognosis of this disease is normally poor, with most patients surviving less than six months after diagnosis.

As we all know, Patrick has been putting up a brave fight and has been something of a miracle man up to this point. He recently was hospitalised and recovered from pneumonia.

As expected, the illness on top of his disease has taken its toll with Patrick weakened by his fight.

A friend tells The Enquirer:

“There’s nothing more doctors can do for him.”

We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable.”

“His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He’s still losing weight and he’s very weak.”

“Patrick regards himself as a cowboy, and is determined to die with his boots on and no regrets.”

His weakness is to be expected, considering his condition, but let’s hope things aren’t quite as grim as this report would make it seem.

Patrick Swayze’s reps have confirmed that he has been released from the hospital.

Swayze checked himself in, suffering from pneumonia on January 9th. Given his battle with pancreatic cancer, his recovery from pneumonia has been remarkable.

Once again, Patrick has shown how tough and resilient he is. Let’s hope he can keep the fight going for some time yet.

Patrick Swayze’s mother says the actor remains positive, despite his latest set back, being hospitalized with pneumonia.

When I heard he had pneumonia, I thought that it would really take its toll on his weakened immune system, but once again he seems to be sticking it to the illness and not giving in.

Last week on the ABC he denied that he was on his deathbed, but acknowledged that in reality he only has two years to live.

Hopefully, he can again prove the experts wrong and defy the disease.

Patrick Swayze has denied that he’s on his last legs in his fight with pancreatic cancer, and that his reported “tearful farewell” with his family is nothing more than a normal holiday celebration.

In fact, despite still suffering from the debilitating illness, Swayze says that he’s in good spirits and is feeling great.

“The only thorn in my side being that many tabloids have been consistently reporting lies and false information about me and those close to me,” Swayze, 56, said.

He added: “They’re [the tabloids] reporting that I’m on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family [but it's not true].”

“Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life,” Swayze said.

“It’s a battle, and so far, I’ve been winning. I’m one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment.”

Swayze has just returned home to spend the holiday season with his family after finishing work on his new television series, The Beast.

Legendary author Michael Crichton has died at the age of 66.

Crichton, who wrote more than a dozen best-sellers in his career – most notibly Jurassic Park – lost his battle with cancer in Los Angeles on Tuesday, his family said in a statement.

“Michael Crichton died unexpectedly in Los Angeles Tuesday, November 4, 2008 after a courageous and private battle against cancer,” the statement read.

As well as his novels, which sold over 100 million copies worldwide, Crichton was also the creator behind the hit international medical drama, E.R..

Actress Christina Applegate has revealed that she is now cancer free, after making the heartbreaking decision to have a double mastectomy.

The 36-year-old was first diagnosed with breast cancer last month, and has been given the all-clear by doctors following her surgery.

“I’m clear. Absolutely 100 per cent clear and clean,” Applegate said.

“My decision, after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed the most logical and the one that was going to work for me was to have a bilateral mastectomy.

“So basically I had a prophylactic double mastectomies,” the former Married With Children star continued. “I didn’t want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything. I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me.”

However, the decision to go through with the surgery was a tough one, and Applegate still experiences periods of depression because of the outcome.

“Sometimes, you know, I cry and sometimes I scream and I get really angry and I get really like, you know, into wallowing in self-pity sometimes.

“And I think that’s – it’s all part of healing, and anyone who’s going through it out there, it’s OK to cry. It’s OK to fall on the ground and just scream if you want to.”

Applegate underwent the double mastectomy three weeks ago, and will have reconstructive surgery over the next eight months.

She joked: “I’m going to have cute boobs ’til I’m 90, so there’s that. I’ll have the best boobs in the nursing home. I’ll be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table.”
