Former Girlfriend Says, “Priestley Was My Soul Mate”
The former girlfriend of late Australian actor Mark Priestley has come out of seclusion to release a statement, describing the All Saints star as her “soul mate”.
Actress and playwright Kate Mulvany, who had broken up with the 32-year-old a few weeks earlier, has been in seclusion since Priestley’s body was found on a building ledge above Market Street in Sydney’s CBD at lunchtime on Wednesday.
A deeply upset Mulvany said:
“Mark was my partner, my best friend, my soulmate and brought great joy to all who knew him.
“Thank you to everyone for your kind words. I request that you let us grieve for him and please remember him with love.”
Mulvany’s statement comes as filming resumes on All Saints, the show in which Priestley played the much-loved nurse Dan Goldman. His character married on-screen love Erica Templeton (Jolene Anderson) only a day before he jumped to his death from the 23rd floor of the Swissotel hotel.
Priestley’s parents, based in Perth, are still struggling to come to terms with their son’s shock death, but acknowledged the support he was given during his fight with depression.
“We are greatly strengthened and helped in this very difficult time by the expressions of sympathy and the kind comments about Mark’s life and career,” they said in a joint statement.
The funeral will be held in Western Australia next Thursday.

Split With Girlfriend Caused Actor to Jump
Mark Priestley, the Australian actor who took his own life on Wednesday, jumped to his death just weeks after splitting with his long-time girlfriend, according to reports.
The 32-year-old star of Aussie medical drama All Saints split with girlfriend, playwright and actress Kate Mulvany, a few weeks before checking himself into a hotel in central Sydney and committing suicide.
Sources claim that the actor had been severely depressed since the split, and wasn’t coping very well.
Police discovered Priestley’s body on a 10th floor ledge of a building next to the Swissotel hotel, where he’d checked himself in under the pseudonym Damian Barker at 11.30 a.m. According to the reports, Priestley had requested a room with a balcony on the 23rd floor.
He plunged to his death 90 minutes after checking in. It took police three hours to recover his body from the opposite building.
His former cast members are said to be in shock, with filming on the Seven Network show shutting down for the day while they come to terms with his unexpected passing.
