Scarlett's Safe Sex

Scarlett Johansson has admitted that although she doesn’t ’sleep around,’ she has a HIV test twice a year, because “one has to be socially aware.”

She says: “I get tested for HIV twice a year…It’s part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It’s just disgusting behavior when people don’t. It’s so irresponsible.”

During her interview with Allure magazine, Scarlett has also revealed that she finds it hard to stay faithful to one man. “There does seem to be a mistaken belief out there that I am sexually available somehow which is not to say that I’m not open-minded about sex.”

“Contrary to popular belief, I’m not promiscuous. Yet I wouldn’t say I’m a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single. But when I’m in a relationship, I’m in a relationship.”

When she was asked about her relationship with The Black Dahlia co-star, Josh Hartnett, Scarlett had this to say: “He’s a good boy. A great person. I’m very lucky and I’m very happy.”

Scarlett also says that she agrees with Sienna Miller’s point of view on monogamy, but manages to explain herself with a little more class than Ms. Miller.

“I do think on some basic level we are animals, and by instinct we kind of breed accordingly. But as much as I believe that, I work really hard when I’m in a relationship to make it work in a monogamous way.”

Ms. Johansson seems to be a good role model for young girls, with her testing for STD’s, and her excellent display of support for ‘prevention rather than cure’ (in the form of her full body condom). Hats off to you, Scarlett!
