There’s a critic who gets paid to see movies and he thinks Crowe’s accent in American Gangster is: “unforgivably broad, unforgettably bad Noo Yawk” so, Mr. Crowe does have his naysayers. Yes, in the same article, the same critic does say “I have no quarrel with Crowe under normal circumstances.” but my point of contention is his accent and I believe my point is made on that.

So, rather than trying to come up with logical, rational counters to what I said, the best anyone can come up with is to ask a ludicrous question like that or insult me?

Typical, and not unexpected.

Americans, using their brains zero percent of the time because they don’t teach you how on CNN. And it’s sad that I’m an American too.

Critics DO in fact give awards to mediocre actors, IF those actors are “stars”. Have YOU been around the Independent movie scence as I have? Have you HEARD what independents talk about? It’s well known that Academy Awards are given out solely on the basis of popularity. Popularity rules in the world, in case no one has noticed, or has the guts to say in public.

I’d advise anyone to get involved with the actors who never get the breaks the “stars” get and take a look at things from their pov. Ever go to a Broadway show? Stage actors would wipe the floor with film actors any day of the week, and yet even the most famous stage actors hardly get the notoriety of Hollywood’s “finest”.

Why is that?

Mass media – Broadway stars can’t be in your living room on a DVD. Independents don’t have a chance to compete with the big Hollywood studios and the money they can spend advertising their “stars”, getting their faces plastered around everywhere so people can ‘Oooh’ and ‘Ahhh’.

That’s the main reason why Russel Crowe is “such a star”, having nothing to do with talent, as they say in Hollyweird – it’s just being in the right place at the right time. When the “special” people have a saying like that they use THEMSELVES, why would still believe in these jokers?

And someone says I don’t know anything, lol! I’m not trying to be nasty to anyone, just speaking the truth. I assure you, Hollywood needs no one to defend them, they have enough ‘yes’ men and women to satisfy their egos, most of the time.

And I wouldn’t even know who the hell he is without hearing about the phone incident, lol. He’s a mediocre actor at best. I suspect the ladies like him because of his looks rather than his average ‘talent’. There’s people with ten times his talent who just don’t have the connections he had to get the break he did, and that goes for all of the ‘big names’ – there’s plenty of better actors and actresses out there who just never got the break and that’s just sad.
