Rowling “Devastated” at Finishing Final Harry Potter Book
In an interview with BBC’s Jonathan Ross, infamous children’s author, J.K. Rowling explains how upset she was upon completing the final book in the bestselling series, Harry Potter.
“I was in a hotel room on my own. I was sobbing my heart out,” Rowling said. “I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face. That was really tough.”
“Finishing the book is a relief,” she added. “I can feel more relaxed. I felt euphoria, devastated, when I finished one chapter near the end. I absolutely howled, it had been planned for so long.”
At the end of the interview, Rowling let slip a few secrets for the final book, telling Ross that two characters bite the big one in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but wouldn’t divulge which two they were (I’m betting, along with a whole host of others, that one of them is Harry, and the other Voldemort).
She also addressed the rumour that the final word in the book was ’scar.’
“It was so for ages, and now it’s not,” she said. “Scar is quite near the end, but it’s not the last word.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released worldwide on July 21st.
