Richie Down Under: Let The Feeding Frenzy Begin!

The Simple Life star Nicole Richie is headed down under, and her small visit to Oz has sparked a feeding frenzy of big wigs, all vying for the diminutive star to appear at their event.
Nicole is said to arrive in the country on Friday with her rocker boyfriend, Joel Madden, and is rumoured to share in the hosting duties of the MTV Awards with good friend Sophie Monk, and the twin beaus from Good Charlotte, at the end of this month.
A spokesperson for MTV confirmed that they are currently “in negotiations with Nicole” about an appearance at the awards, and was quick to point out that they contacted her in regards to this well before she was being “shopped around as a celebrity guest for designers at Fashion Week.”
Fashion sources say that Nicole had been “offered at a price” last week to appear at the annual event, and since then, fashion execs have made sure to have a place available for her in the front row.
MTV is furious over the supposed “poaching” of their star by the Fashion Week organizers, stating that: “[Nicole's] got nothing to do with Fashion Week and if she’s here she’ll be here for MTV.”
I’m interested to know what price Richie was “offered to appear” at…I doubt she’d fetch as much as her pal and co-star, Paris Hilton, but then again, you never know…
