Paris To Taste Freedom Due to Overcrowding?

The LA Times is reporting that there’s a very real chance Paris Hilton will miss out on any significant jail time because of an extreme amount of overcrowding in Los Angeles prisons.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, Steve Whitmore, said that Hilton’s sentence would more than likely be cut in half by “a state law allowing for credit for time served for good behavior.”

He then added that due to massive overcrowding in the LA jail system, her sentence could be reduced further still, taking her time to be served down to less than a week!

“We look at Ms. Hilton as we would any other low-level offending female inmate,” Whitmore said. “There are … issues that will come into play here, including her criminal history, the nature of the offense and the population of the facility.”

More after the jump.

Taking all of those factors into account, “the decision will be made at the time she is booked into the jail. We do this with every single inmate.”

Last year, Lost star Michelle Rodriguez served less than a day of her 60-day sentence for her own probation violation, due to the overcrowding issue.

A legal expert said that even a day spent in prison could be enough of a wake-up call for the out of control reality star. “Twenty-four hours might be enough. Those minutes can seem like hours.”

But at the rate things are going, she’ll be lucky to even serve two hours…
