Paris in Prison!

Break out the balloons, streamers and party blowers… Paris Hilton has just spent her first night in prison!
I expect it was a little different than the four-poster, egyptian cotton sheeted bed she’s used to.
Before being whisked off to jail with her lawyer and family, the Parisite graced the red carpet at the MTV Awards, and then tottled off to her parents’ place. At 10.30pm, Paris, her mother Kathy and sister Nicky were collected by the Hilton’s lawyer, and driven to the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles, where Paris then handed herself over to the sheriff.
The reality star will not be sharing a cell as first thought, and will spend most of her 23-day stay in solitary confinement, only venturing outside for an hour each day.
The Hiltonite released a statement to the press (through her PR person, of course), shortly before entering the prison:
“I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes.”
“This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.”
