After serving less than 2 hours of her four-day DUI sentence, Nicole Richie has been released from the Lynwood jail.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, all non-violent females sentenced to 30 days or less are to be released after serving no more than 12 hours, because of the over-crowding issue at the Lynwood facility.
As we know from earlier, Richie was booked at 3.15 pm today, and was later released after being processed and entered into the system at 4.37 pm, accompanied by her lawyer and rumoured fiance, Joel Madden.
“Miss Richie was cooperative during the process,” the statement from the Sheriff’s Department said.
They said she was released “based on her sentence and federal court guidelines,” and was “treated in the same manner as other inmates with a similar sentence.”
Richie must now take part in an alcohol education program, as agreed in her sentencing, and will serve a three-year probation term. A pretty light sentence, for someone who was driving on the wrong side of the highway, drunk and under the influence of prescription drugs…
