Nicole Richie: Jailbird

According to sources at TMZ, Nicole Richie might have to serve a mandatory jail sentence of 5 days, if found guilty of DUI after Monday’s arrest.

California law states that anyone convicted of DUI twice, must serve 5 consecutive days in county jail, as well as a one-year license suspension, and a year-and-a-half stint in an alcohol education program, even if the second offense is not alcohol-related.

There was no alcohol in her blood on this offense, but way back in 2002, Nicole was caught with a blood alcohol reading of .12, putting her well over the limit of what is considered in California as ‘legally intoxicated.’

I wonder if her new relationship can stand five days in prison??
