This weekends I’lltryher Carey’s Hong Kong concert was canceled Thursday because of poor ticket sales and what promoters said were the pop star’s “unreasonable demands.”
Carey was to perform Saturday at an outdoor area near Hong Kong’s Central financial district. Promoter Concerts Asia said it had only sold 4,000 tickets, despite a “substantial” advertising campaign.
“We have decided to cancel the event effective immediately due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable and not with the best interests of Hong Kong, us and also the fans,” said a statement posted Thursday on the promoter’s Web site.
There is no comment on exactly what the demands are, but I have heard of a Casino that booked her once and said that she was by far the worst behaved celebrity, and requested the most outlandish items. To give you an example of I’lltryher’s demands, here is an example reported last year.
During an interview with Capital FM DJ Johnny Vaughan, I’lltryher Carey demanded antiseptic hand wipes after being touched by fans outside the London studio. She stunned Vaughan when she interrupted his show to clean the “germs” from her hands.
Shocked Johnny asked: “What have you got there? Is it a demand?”
I’lltryher explained: “This is a demand. It is just really essential because I could get germs, because I’ve touched a lot of fans outside.”
Other examples of I’lltryher’s demands include turning up 90 minutes late to an awards ceremony because she broke a fingernail.
According to reports, the pop beauty threw a tantrum after snapping the nail and ordered her entourage to fix the problem before she would attend the Capital Radio Awards in London.
Despite being accompanied by a team stylists, make-up artists and hairdressers on her trip Carey was unable to locate a manicurist.
Eventually staff managed to find a nail specialist to come to the lavish Bagloni hotel, where she was staying, to repair the damage and get Mariah to the ceremony, where she caused more outrage by arriving with 11 bodyguards and demanded they watch over her as she ate.
At the same hotel, I’lltryher got staff to roll out a red carpet accompanied by lit candles for her arrival at 2am.
During the making of her ‘Shake it off’ video she asked to be carried around the set after her high heel shoes left her feet hurting
The video’s director, Jake Nava, gave her a comfortable pair of slippers to wear but I’lltryher declined, saying: “I can’t wear flat shoes. My feet repel them”
A further example of a star being completely grounded and intouch with reality. I think she might begin to find it more difficult to get her demands met as time goes by.
