Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Catty Dig At Katie Holmes

Maggie Gyllenhaal, the sister of Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal, has been offered to take over the role of Rachel Dawes in the new Batman movie, but didn’t do so without a substantial “dig” at Katie Holmes and her “wooden” performance the first time around.

“I’m not walking into Katie Holmes’ performance,” Gyllenhaal said. “I’m thinking of it as an opportunity to play somebody who’s alive and smart. Chris (Nolan) asked me to do this because he wanted me, not because he wants some generic lady in a dress,” she added, referring to Ms. Holmes’ starchy performance in Batman Begins.

Holmes is the only actor being replaced in the sequel, with hottie Christian Bale reprising his role as the masked hero.
