In reality, I would take a lot of what Keira says here with a grain of salt. Many stars have made similar statements in the past, but very have actually walked away by their own choice.

If taken at her word (which, with all the PR spin out there is not always an easy thing to do) she is having a bit of reflection on her life and career.

So she has some pressures about the media interest in her weight; there are plenty of people who live with and deal with far greater pressures in a more mundane existence, without the luxury of being able to choice to step out of it. I am sure it would suck being followed and analysed by the media, but I am yet to see anyone who has all positives in their life without any negatives.

Are the negative aspects of her fame worse than all the positives? I guess only she can judge that. If she really is worried, she can simply step away from the spotlight and lead a normal life. Fame is so fleeting, that she could do it. If she chooses not to then that would be the fairest measure of how genuine she is.

Maybe if she took a walk through somewhere like a children's hospital she mightn't think she has it so bad.

Just my thoughts.

No offense taken. ;)

I would agree that I were being too kind of "an obviously spoiled wretch of a girl" if I saw any sign she was in fact spoiled. May I ask how precisely she is spoiled? Yes, she is able to afford her own house in London, and she buys clothing and shoes that can sometimes be pricey. But going into work at four in the morning and not getting off until after nightfall doesn't seem like an entirely pleasant way to spend the day, even for a "real person," even when food is catered for the cast and crew as a whole. She has a reputation for sitting on the floor and eating with everyone else, and supposedly still rides the bus when her face isn't plastered on the side of it.

As for being worried about where her next paycheck will come from, I'll admit she likely won't have to worry about that for a while. Her parents are in show business, however, and in the rest of this interview she tells how her mom encouraged her to buy a house as soon as she could, so that if things started to go downhill, at least she would have a roof over her head. She may not have the experience herself, but surely she can benefit from her parents' experience and that of their coworkers?

I don't know how my statement about Lindsay Lohan could have been misunderstood. I apologize if it was unclear. "Either that, or you’re getting [Keira Knightley] confused with Lohan" in your statements. I hope that's clearer.

Well, Eve thank you so much for analyzing my intentions so incorrectly. I'm sorry my stupidity offended you dear.

To analyze you...I think you are trying to be too kind to an obviously spoiled wretch of a girl who doesn't know what it is to actually work for a living like the 'real people' do. She gets no sympathy from me. Until she crams with the crowds, takes a subway and is worried what her next paycheck will cover, will she know how lucky she is.

By the way if cough LiLo cough is supposed to be witty, you need a nap.

It doesn't seem to be as if Keira has ever pursued fame *coughLindsayLohancough*. She's tolerated the paps, been polite, but she rarely treats them to a modelling session or anything like it.

At least she said she could see herself giving it up in five years' time, and now it seems like she might do some theatrical work. That might help things calm down a little.

And margaretta, I think it's a common misconception to think that all actresses are divas, but in the interview, Keira talks about how she actively avoids parties. She also has a reputation amongst her co-stars for being down-to-earth. I imagine it would be frightening, though, to have to put up with vans with blacked-out windows following you as you walk down the street. I think you're trying to be too hard to be witty without trying hard enough to be smart. Either that, or you're getting her confused with Lohan.

Poor girl, getting tons of cash, sitting around in a trailer having everyone do their bidding for her. Tons of perks, parties all the time. What a nightmare life! Yes, that is an awful lot of stress, I'm so sympathetic...NOT!
