Joel Madden Speaks Out on Duff Split

In the wake of his run-on on the TRL set with ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff, Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, has decided to speak out on their split for the first time.
“I kind of ignored [the split] and tried to just continue to live my life,” Madden told People recently. “People can say or think whatever they want …so in my reality, it’s kind of irrelevant. I’m always the kind of person that does the right thing and keeps my side of the street clean.”
Joel also admits that he and Hilary still have a good, close relationship.
“Every girl I’ve ever dated I have respect for, and I always try to leave them in good terms,” he said. “I don’t see the necessity to be friends with anyone you’ve dated but definitely out of respect of the time, you have to be kind of respectful and that’s what I try to do.”
And what about his new love with reality star, Nicole Richie??
“I don’t really talk about her at all but I will say I am really happy and everything’s really good for me right now.”
No word on those engagement rumours, though. Guess we’ll all have to find out the old-fashioned way…through a rep, or a leaked report…
