A spokeswoman for Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist who was with Michael Jackson when he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, has said that he is “in no way a suspect” in the singer’s death.

Murray spent three hours with detectives yesterday meticulously going through the events which led up to the King of Pop’s shock collapse and subsequent death.

The doctor “helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies,” his spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik said in a statement. “Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy.”

Los Angeles police have confirmed that they interviewed Murray, but would not comment further on his status as a “person of interest,” only adding that the cardiologist was cooperative and “provided information which will aid the investigation.”

The coroner who performed the original autopsy (before the Jacksons sent their son’s body to a private medico for further anaylsis) has stated that there was no evidence of foul play, and that while it could take a month or more to receive the official results, has labeled Jackson’s death as nothing more than a tragedy.
