Isaiah Washington Blames Gay Slur on Co-Star

Former Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washingston has put the blame on co-star Patrick Dempsey (aka McDreamy) and his tardiness for the gay slur which saw him sacked from the hit series.
During an interview with Larry King on Monday, Washington said his main regret in the whole debacle was not confronting Dempsey about his lateness the first time. Had he done this, he wouldn’t have had to have a go at him the second time it happened, and the huge blow-up that followed and caused the homophobic comment would have been avoided altogether.
Washington explained that the fight began when Dempsey wanted to wait for their co-star, Ellen Pompeo, to arrive on set before they shot the scene.
“I said I don’t need Ellen, I can act,” he told Larry King. “And that was the moment that sent it into a different zone.”
After that comment, Dempsey is said to have erupted at Washington. “He became unhinged, sprayed spittle in my face,” he explained. “I’m asking him why is he screaming at me. … He just becomes irate.”
It was at that point that Isaiah said “a lot of things I’m not really proud of.”
“I said several bad words,” he told King. Those ‘bad words’ went something like this: “There’s no way you’re going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word.”
He insisted that the “F-word” was not meant in a derogatory way at all, and was definitely not directed at gay co-star T.R. Knight.
“I am not homophobic – in no way, shape or form,” said Washington.
But if it wasn’t directed at Knight, why would he go to the media and spread such a lie? Washington has a theory for this – he “did it to advance his career,” because his acting on Grey’s has been “disappointing.”
Since being fired from the hit series, the only co-star to contact Washington has been his former love interest, Sandra Oh, via email.
At the time of the interview, none of the cast or crew on Grey’s wished to comment further on his dismissal.
