Australian actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his SoHo apartment this afternoon at the age of 28.
The Brokeback Mountain star, who is the father of one, was found unconscious by his masseuse. The masseuse arrived at Ledger’s apartment at 3:31 p.m. this afternoon, was let inside by a housekeeper, and found the actor dead after there was no response to his door-knocking.

The paramedics were called soon after but were unable to save the young star. Police at the scene have said they do not suspect foul play, adding that pills were found next to his unconscious body, which suggests either suicide or an accidental overdose.
So far, calls to both Ledger’s agent and publicist have not been returned.
