Golden Globes To Air Minus Celebrities
This year’s Golden Globe awards will go ahead sans celebrities, it was revealed yesterday. A spokesperson for NBC announced that the ceremony would still take place on Sunday and be aired on television, despite the Writer’s Strike preventing the stars from attending.
NBC Spokeswoman Rebecca Marks said in the statement: “We are prepared to move forward with the telecast on Jan. 13.”
According to Screen Actors Guild president Alan Rosenberg, many of the big names stars who were supposed to attend the awards - like Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy - are showing their support to the WGA by boycotting the show.
Rosenberg said, “There appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross [picket lines to present or accept an award.]”
So far the WGA has put a ban on any of its members, preventing them from attending or working on the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards or the Academy Awards.
