Germaine Greer – Her Ego Knows No Bounds

By writing this post, I have fallen into the trap that Germaine Greer has set. Now most of you probably do not know who Germaine Greer is; understandable really as Germaine has never reached any level of importance anywhere other than in her own mind.
For those unfamiliar with her, here are some very basic facts:
She wrote a feminist book thirty odd years ago, which gave her some notoriety, and in her mind made her the definitive answer to all things feminist and cultural. Anyone in disagreement was a Neanderthal.
So why am I mentioning her here. Well I shouldn’t be, as her whole existence is based on making offensive statements to gain publicity. She is a frequent Aussie basher, and loathes all things about her country of birth.
The latest in a long line of her offensive statements concerns the late Australian Icon Steve Irwin.
On Wednesday Greer said Irwin was an “embarrassment” and that the animal world had taken revenge on the “self-deluded animal tormentor Steve Irwin”.
Speaking on Australian TV Channel Nine’s “A Current Affair” news program Wednesday, Greer described those who mourned Irwin’s passing as “idiots” and said possibly millions of Australians were embarrassed by him for with his cruelty towards animals.
Greer said Irwin had not treated animals with the respect they deserved.
“He would tell you how dangerous they were and he would proceed to intrude on their space and humiliate (them) really — treat them with massive insensitivity,” she said. “It’s no surprise he came to grief.” So what exactly is she doing here. Something mighty insensitive about that you would have to say.
In a stinging attack on Ms Greer, Mr Beattie branded her criticism of Steve Irwin as ‘extreme radical rubbish’, and urged her to ‘back off’ and keep her ’stupid’ comments on Irwin to herself.
Mr Beattie today told Channel Nine it was unbelievable Greer had so publicly put her own ego first while the family of Mr Irwin struggled to cope with their loss.
“Germain Greer is just wrong and I just can’t imagine anyone being more insensitive and, frankly, stupid,” he said.
“This argument is just extreme radical rubbish from Germain Greer and it couldn’t come at a more insensitive time.
“Any suggestion that he (Mr Irwin) mistreated animals is just rubbish… he educated a generation.”
Greer herself has been the target of cries of exploitation.
In 2003 she used a shirtless photo of a 15-year-old boy as the cover for a controversial book without asking for his permission. The photo had been taken on a film set.
OK, this is nothing more than a grasp for attention to feed the engorged ego of an old, bitter, obsolete, and totally irrelevant entity.
To deny that this is ego driven on her part is a complete fabrication. She did after all appear briefly on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK. The only people who appear on these shows are D grade celebrities who are trying to grasp some semblance of the limelight before disappearing back into the irrelevance of their existence.
Anyway, I am sorry I had to feed her ego, but I just could not go without commenting on such a bitter dark hearted bitch.
She is sure to be trolling the Internet looking for informaiton on herself, so any comments you leave here will be read by her no doubt.
Steve Irwin was loved, admired and now, sadly missed. Millions all over the world feel the sadness of his loss. The same cannot be said for you. Some people achieve greatness through their deeds while others seek to develop a profile by shear obnoxiousness.
