There are so many advantages in having Fish For Aquariums. They are a great way to add life and color to a home, as well as providing a great interest and very low demanding pets.

Just looking at your aquarium is very relaxing, as it is like having a little bit of the ocean in your lounge room, or whichever part of the house you have it.

Aquariums require very little effort to keep in top condition. Some basic things need to be done every day, like feeding your fish, while others will only take a little time, once a week, or once a fortnight, such as inspecting that the lights and filters are functioning properly.

It is essential that you feed your fish every day, but do not over feed them, as fish will only feed for about 5 minutes at a time. After this time, any left over food will become stale and contaminate the water. You will learn the amount required to keep your fish full and healthy. Until you work out the correct amount, any left over food should be removed from the tank.

Having decided to get an aquarium, your next consideration will be whether to go for a freshwater aquarium or a saltwalter or tropical aquarium. This really comes down to personal preference and budget. generally, a freshwater aquarium is the least expensive to setup, with a tropical aquarium being the most expensive.

Saltwater and tropical aquariums do provide much more colour and choice in fish and inverterbrates, but these also can cost considerably more to purchase. Setting up a saltwater tank also takes a bit more work initially, once established they do seem to be less demanding and water quality tends to stay better.

If you select a freshwater aquarium, there are many colorful, popular and easy to manage fish you can select. Beginning with the old favorite, Goldfish, or Carassius auratus. This was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is still one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish and water garden fish today.

If you want to begin with something a little more exotic, you could choose the Discus fish. Discus are a genus of three species of freshwater cichlid fishes native to the Amazon River basin. Another very popular fish is the Betta fish, or Siamese fighting fish, ranging in size from under 1 inch, to 5 inches in length. Whichever you choose, you need to educate yourself on caring for both your fish and the aquarium to ensure you get the most enjoyment out of your fish and aquariums.

Whatever your choice, you are sure to gain enjoyment and relaxation from your fish and aquarium, not to mention a living hobby
