First Shot of Heath Ledger in Batman

During one of my many web surfs, I stumbled across this shot of Aussie actor Heath Ledger, dressed in his “Joker” garb for the new Batman movie, titled Dark Knight. It’s one of the first promo shots available of the new (and supposedly improved) Joker, and he certainly looks different from Jack Nicholson’s version in the 1989 flick.

While Jack’s version is how I’d picture a gay clown to look, Heath’s is more dirty, daggy and slightly deranged. I guess the new Joker will fit in perfectly with Batman’s revamped image, transforming him from the cheesy comic book character of the 90’s, to Christian Bale’s dark, brooding figure of today.

I just got a little bit more excited for the release of the new film. My excitement began, of course, when I found out ho-hum Holmes wasn’t reprising her role as the boring, cardboard cut-out, Rachel.
