Dennis Rodman Arrested For Battery
Wedding-dress-wearing NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested in L.A. last night on suspicion of felony domestic battery.
The former sports star was arrested at a Century City hotel at around 11:00 p.m. last night, and was later released.
Law enforcement officials on the scene told TMZ.com that a suspect is only charged with a felony, as Rodman was today, if there is evidence of injury, ie. bruising and/or blood.
Darren Prince, Rodman’s manager, released a brief statement on the star’s arrest.
“Last night Dennis and his girlfriend had too much to drink,” the statement read. “When they returned to their hotel they started arguing and a minor altercation broke out where Dennis grabbed her by the arm and left a bruise.”
It was at that stage that hotel security were forced to intervene, calling the LAPD, who responded quickly and made the arrest. Prince added that Rodman now plans on entering a rehab facility “immediately upon returning to Florida,” because his drinking “has been escalating in the last six weeks due to a nasty divorce and not seeing his children in over two months.”
Rodman’s bail was set at US$50,000. He was released at 4:16 a.m.
