Staralicious Update

Just a quick post to let you know that I have been working on an update to Staralicious.com.

This time, the design retains similarities to the previous theme, but improves upon the layout.

I am also working on incorporating some new features and sections to Staralicious.com that will give you more to read and explore, so there will be more reasons to keep coming back.

There may be some teething problems for a short period as I roll out the new design. I will attempt to keep any disruptions to a minimum, so if you experience any problems, come back a few minutes later and things should be working fine.

Staralicious’ 3,000th Post

As you can see, it has been an exciting couple of days here lately. Not only did out first national magazine interview come out today, but this post marks number 3,000 for Staralicious stories.

To top it off, today I received The White Tie Affair ‘Walk This Way’ album, thanks Darren. I will have some more details on these guys in the near future. I am enjoying the album, and can recommend you go and grab a copy.

Top Hosting Center To The Rescue

If you remember, I posted a story the other day on some of the issues the site has been suffering lately, due to its massive growth.

Basically, the site has been getting so many visitors, that it kept killing the VPS server it was hosted on. There was really only two solutions to the problem, upgrade to an expensive dedicated server, or close the site down. Obviously, closing the site was not something we wanted to do, so we had to upgrade to a dedicated server.

The site has been hosted by the same company since it began, so I thought it was probably time to investigate other opportunities.

I spoke with some other people about my problem and was advised to talk with Eric, the CEO from Top Hosting Center. I knew that some other large sites had recently switched to Top Hosting Center, which made me think it must be pretty good. I took their advice and contacted Eric.

Let me say, from the outset, Eric and Top Hosting Center have been great. I explained my situation and Eric was only too happy to help.

Here I was trying to figure out why the site was always so slow on the VPS. Site Interruptions Notice

Thanks to all of the Staralicious visitors, some exciting things are happening for Staralicious.com.

You have probably noticed some interruptions and problems with the loading of the site lately. Basically, the site has become too popular and is getting so many visitors that it is killing the server it is hosted on.

The site is presently hosted on the highest level VPS and even this is not able to keep up with the number of visitors coming in, resulting in slow loading and sometimes no loading at all when the server totally dies.

Solution

To rectify these problems, it has come time to pension off the VPS and move up to a dedicated server, just for Staralicious.com. Starting tomorrow, at about 8pm, the site will be moving to a new dedicated server. Basically, this entails backing up everything on the site, including all of the data and migrating it to the new server. It will also entail updating a lot of settings.

There will be a period of time when the site will be down and unreachable. I am not sure how long this will last, it may be a few hours, or it may be as long as a day. Hopefully, all will be back up and working again by Monday morning, so that you can still get your daily gossip fix.

Once it is all complete, you should find a much more reliable and faster loading site.

I will post more about this, once we are back online.

In my previous post, I mentioned a brilliant idea I just had. With people like Paris dishing out the dirt so well, I think celebrities would make great gossip bloggers.

I am sure Paris is not alone though, there would be tons of celebrities that could dish the dirt just as well; just think of all the scores they could settle.
