Witherspoon & Philippe Finalize Divorce

After almost two years, the divorce of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe has been finalized in a Los Angeles court.

The custody and financial settlements were reached on Thursday, People is reporting. The details of the finalized documents are not yet available, though it is believed that Witherspoon and Philippe will share custody of their children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4.

One document released by the court, dated June 12, stated: “[The court finds] the parties have settled all their remaining issues in these proceedings.”

Witherspoon and Philippe first filed for divorce in November 2006, after a rocky few months which saw Oscar-winning actress Reese holidaying alone a number of times.

The pair were together for seven years, and started dating after co-starring in the 1999 hit movie, Cruel Intentions.

Reese is currently dating Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal, while Philippe has just gone public with his relationship with Australian actress Abbie Cornish.

Jay Leno Apologises For Gay Remarks

Talk show host Jay Leno has apologised today for the on-air gay remarks he made to guest Ryan Phillippe, which sparked a mini-scandal in the U.S.

“In talking about Ryan’s first role, I realize that what I said came out wrong,” Leno said in a statement. “I certainly didn’t mean any malice. I agree it was a dumb thing to say, and I apologize.”

Ryan Phillippe Was Suicidal After Divorce

Ryan Phillippe has revealed that he was on the verge of suicide after his divorce to Reese Witherspoon, in a recent interview with U.K. magazine, Man About Town.

The Stop Loss actor said he couldn’t cope for a while after the split, and used to wake up physically sick most mornings.

“After the divorce, I was a physical wreck. I wanted to die,” he said.

“I was ready to kill myself. I was not taking care of myself at all. I would wake up and cry and vomit.”

There is a plus to all the emotional baggage the star carries around with him now, though: he’s able to cry on cue when he’s filming, whereas before it used to be near-impossible.

“Now, it’s f—king easy,” he explained. “When I was younger, I didn’t have enough to cry about. But since I’ve had kids, I feel my work has become better, because my life is fuller and more complicated, and I’ve experienced so many highs and lows.”

At least he’s looking on the bright side of it all.

Ryan Phillippe Doesn’t Like Jake

Apparently, Ryan Phillippe is far from happy at ex-wife Reese Witherspoon’s choice of new man.

During a bitter conversation between Ryan and Reese, the Flags of our Fathers actor let his dislike for Gyllenhaal be known, and made a few snaps about his gay cowboy flick.

“Ryan is pissed about Jake,” a source told Us Weekly. He said that “he didn’t want ‘that guy’ around their kids [Deacon, 3, and Ava, 7], and then made some crude Brokeback Mountain remark.”
However, sources at Jake’s camp insist that “Reese doesn’t have him spend the night when the kids are around.”

It doesn’t sound like things in the Witherspoon/Phillippe camp are going to get friendly any time soon…

Could The Witherspoon-Phillippe Divorce Turn Nasty?

People.com is reporting that on Tuesday, Ryan Phillippe filed a legal response to his separated partner Reese Witherspoon’s divorce documents, stating that he would like joint custody of their two children.
In his response, Phillippe claims that “irreconcilable differences” was the reason behind the impending divorce, and asks that child visitation be “equally allocated.”
However, (and this is where it could turn “Hasselhoff-ish”) the original documents filed by Witherspoon in November last year requested that “the court not grant any spousal support” to Ryan.

It all sounds very “civil” now, passing paperwork back and forth through the courts and all… but given some of the heated discussions between the pair before the split, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this divorce gets nasty…

New Couple Alert: Ashlee & Ryan?

Ryan Phillippe sure has a thing for blondes!

First, he married Reese Witherspoon, then he hooked up with Abbie Cornish…and now it seems he’s seeing Ashlee Simpson – who’s 10 year’s younger than him!

The actor and pop star were spotted getting friendly at Les Deux nightclub in Los Angeles recently, with Ryan heading back to Ashlee’s house and spending the night.

A source explained how the new couple happened to meet: “When Ryan and his friends arrived they were shown to the only table with any space left — where Ashlee and her friends were sitting.”

“He couldn’t keep his eyes off her in her very figure hugging little black dress. They seemed very into each other. Ashlee was really excited. You could tell she had a huge crush on him.”

Apparently, shortly after meeting, the pair disappeared upstairs to the private Library, where they emerged several hours later looking “dishevelled.”

The source said: “They were up [to The Library] for over an hour and came back looking dishevelled. We knew something went on.”

“They took separate cars and met at her place. He spent the night! Ashlee is keeping quiet and just said how hot he was. They really hit it off. I think they will hook up again.”

Of course, a rep for Mr. Phillippe has denied that anything went on, claiming that although Ryan did meet Ashlee that evening, he did not spend the night with her.

“Ryan does not know Ashlee aside from a brief introduction. He went out with his friends and left with his friends,” his rep said.

As yet, there’s been no word from the Simpson camp.

Reese is “Doin’ Fine”

Her ex-hubby, Ryan Phillippe, spoke out last week, and this week it was Reese’s turn to tell the world how she’s been coping since announcing the split with Ryan in October…and guess what? Reese is doing just fine!

“I’m doing fine. I’m getting out a little more now. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me,” she told In Touch Weekly.

She admitted that the reason for their separation was ‘irreconcilable differences,’ and that she’s been speaking to Ryan a few times a week…but only to discuss their children, Ava (7), and Deacon (3).

A source said: “[Reese is] being civil to him, but she’s built walls.”

While Reese has put her marriage break-up behind her now, the source added that she has no plans to date again in the near future. “[Dating] is a million miles away from her thoughts.” [Source]

Ryan Phillippe Speaks Out

After the announcement of his separation to wife Reese Witherspoon on October 30th, Ryan Phillippe has kept silent…until now!

The Flags of our Fathers actor has released a statement to People about accusations of his infidelity and excessive partying during his marriage to Witherspoon.

Ryan says: “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.”

He refused to comment on whether or not he was in a relationship with his co-star, Aussie Abbie Cornish, and his reps also had nothing to say on the matter, although they do “vehemently deny other recent allegations of hard partying and drug use.”

According to sources close to Reese and Ryan, his excessive partying was one of the major factors behind the separation, and during their marriage, they “would fight over that kind of thing all the time. [Ryan] got away with a lot and he knows it.”

Now matter what happens next, a pal says that the two will remain civil. “I know they love their kids to death. So they’ll do what they can to keep it from turning ugly.” [Source]

Meet Ryan’s Gal

Here’s Ryan Phillippe’s (supposed) new gal, Aussie star Abbie Cornish, at an awards night on the Gold Coast last week.

Not really a fan of what she’s wearing in these pics (she looks a bit ‘Grandma-Holmes-ish’), but I thought since she’s been generating a bit of publicity for herself lately (with the whole ‘banging Reese Witherspoon’s husband behind her back’ thing), it might be time to get to know her a little better.

Here’s what we know about her:

She’s a vegetarian, is a bit of a muso (loves the piano and the guitar), and has done a bit of travelling in her life – she’s been to Morocco, Brazil, Italy and France – all at the ripe ‘ol age of 24!

Her parents split when she was 16, and she grew up on a 170 acre farm in the Hunter Valley region.

And…she’s not afraid to get her kit off in front of people!!!

“The hardest part is getting your clothes off at first in front of the people who haven’t seen you naked before. The first time you get nude in front of someone, it’s hard, and then it’s, ‘Well, you’ve seen everything now; it’s OK, we can shoot the rest of the day’,” Abbie says.

I have a feeling she’s going to become Australia’s next big entertainment export!

No Prenup in Reese-Ryan Divorce

Ryan Phillippe is set to walk away with half of wife Reese Witherspoon’s fortune, as there was no prenup in the marriage!!!

Whether you think Ryan deserves an enormous chunk of Reese’s wealth is irrelevant – under California law, if there is no prenup, each party leaves with 50% of the marital earnings.

It doesn’t sound very fair, when you consider that Reese Witherspoon is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood, receiving around $20 million per movie, while Ryan Phillippe’s small-time, earning only a measly $2.5 million per movie.

Sources tell TMZ that “on a scale of one to ten, one being a peaceful breakup and ten being Hasselhoff, the Witherspoon/Phillippe split is a three.”

There sources added that there is no talk of a reconciliation, and that it is only a matter of time before divorce papers make it all final.
