Rachel Bilson and her lightsaber-toting beau, Hayden Christensen, are engaged, according to reports.

The couple, who met and hooked up while filming the 2008 sci-fi film, Jumper, got engaged over the Christmas holidays, a close friend of Bilson’s has revealed.

“They’re so excited,” the friend said. “They’re a great couple. Rachel seems thrilled beyond belief.”

No wedding date has been set as yet, the pal added.

When contacted for confirmation on the surprise engagement, reps for both Bilson and Christensen refused to comment.

“I don’t comment on my clients’ personal lives,” Bilson’s rep said.

Bilson, who got her big break in teen series The O.C., previously dated Adam Brody (another co-star!), and came close to marrying him before the pair split in 2006.

The trailer for the brand new Hayden Christensen flick, Jumper has just been released, and for those of you who’d like a sneak peak of the latest in sci-fi entertainment, follow the link below.

In the film, Hayden (who shot to fame playing the young Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels) plays David Rice, a ‘Jumper’ who can teleport himself anywhere in the world. Along the way, he gets mixed up in a deadly war that has been raging for thousands of years, between other like-minded Jumpers and a secret organization who’s sole purpose is to exterminate the teleporters.

Jumper also stars Rachel Bilson (from The O.C.) and Samuel L. Jackson. It opens in cinemas on February 14, 2008.

Former The O.C. actor, Tate Donovan (who played Jimmy Cooper), has slammed his young co-stars on the hit soap, claiming that they were all “incredibly difficult” to work with.

The veteran television star, who once worked on the Friends set, said that many of the “on-set dramas” spoken about in the media were caused by young actors Mischa Barton, Benjamin McKenzie, Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody.

Donovan said: “They were really tough. Directors were leaving the set and saying, ‘I’m never going to work with (them again).’”

“I think they all wanted movie careers and did not want to be on a television show. All four of them were, like, ‘This show is ruining my career.’”

And since the hit teen show was axed from television, how many of them actually still have a career?? Hmm… guess being an actor on a tv show wasn’t so bad after all.
