Mischa Barton is Happy

Whatever caused Mischa Barton’s mysterious breakdown a few weeks ago seems to be well and truly gone, with the actress insisting that she’s fine and feeling great.

“I’m feeling great!” Barton told OK! magazine. “I’m really happy.”

Barton was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre late last month after being kept under psychiatric hold for three weeks, and returned to work soon after, joining the set of the new CW production, The Beautiful Life, last week.

The former O.C. star told OK! that filming had begun, and was “going really well.”

“I’m excited,” she added.

Barton attended the Arizona Ice Tea-sponsored party for Music Unites over the weekend, and was seen snuggled up on a sofa at the Cooper Union Hotel for most of the evening, sipping on water and talking to a fellow reveller.

An onlooker told OK!: “[Mischa] seemed to be in a good mood. She was smiling and appeared to be genuinely happy.”

Mischa and a female companion left the party at around 10:40 p.m. to “go home and watch True Blood.”

Barton Out of Hospital, Returning to Work

Mischa Barton has left hospital after spending two weeks under psychiatric hold at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre and is ready to go back to work, her rep has confirmed.

Craig Schneider told Usmagazine.com earlier today: “I can confirm that [Mischa has] left the hospital with the intention to resume production [of her new show The Beautiful Life].”

The actress and former model was admitted to hospital on July 15 after making a distressing call to 911 which suggested she was on the verge of suicide.

Ashton Kutcher, the brains behind the new CW series The Beautiful Life, said on Friday that his leading actress was recovering well.

“I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great,” he said.

Ironically, Barton’s character in The Beautiful Life is a pill-popping supermodel, something which is shockingly similar to her own life in recent times.

Production on her new show is set to begin on Friday.

Barton Hospitalization a Media Ploy?

Mischa Barton’s recent mental issues have been almost as public as Britney Spears’ infamous breakdown of more than a year ago, leaving many of her “haters” feeling pity for the former O.C. star.

Unlike in Spears’ case, though, sources have revealed that Mischa’s issues may stem from her publicist’s desire to see the washed-up actress back in the press and on the cover of one – or more – of the celebrity weekly magazines.

“As sad as Mischa’s recent problems are, what seems to be upsetting her representatives even more is that no one really cares,” an editor from a high-level magazine revealed.

However, Barton’s publicist, Craig Schneider, has denied the claims, telling Page Six that the actress is in high demand, despite her recent work drought and lack of a credible movie.

“I can assure you that I’ve been inundated with requests and inquiries from the celebrity weeklies… If none of them care, then by all means, please stop calling and e-mailing,” Schneider said.

It is probably prudent to note that all of these offers more than likely came after Barton’s hospitalization in the Cedars Sinai Psych Ward, and not before…

Suicide Fears for Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton was placed under psychiatric hold by the LAPD on Wednesday after friends of the actress phoned police, afraid she was about to kill herself.

The former television starlet was supposed to be flying to New York for the premiere of her new film, Homecoming, but had become so disheartened by the movie’s poor reviews that she’d gone on a marathon three-day coke bender and threatened suicide, according to a source.

“She’s in very bad shape,” the source explained.

“She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral.”

The source added: “She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”

Barton’s publicist, Craig Schneider, released a statement on her behalf, confirming that the actress “remains in the hospital under doctor’s orders.” The St. Trinian’s star is being held under section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, whereby authorities can hold a person who presents a risk to themselves and/or the community for up to 72 hours – the same law that saw Britney Spears hospitalised at Cedars Sinai last year.

Spears bounced back pretty quickly from her little episode with the help of her family and a strong management team behind her, however, a pal of Barton’s believes it won’t be so easy for the former O.C. star.

“She is a tortured and troubled person,” the friend said. “You can survive a bad review, but when you don’t show up for the premiere of your new film, it’s not a good sign of where your career is heading.”

Mischa Barton Under Psychiatric Hold

Mischa Barton has been placed under psychiatric hold by the LAPD after an incident in her Los Angeles home on Wednesday, an LAPD spokesperson has confirmed.

“We responded to her home last night on a medical issue,” April Harding, of the Los Angeles Police Department, told Usmagazine.com. “We assisted with it. She was removed from her home.”

Harding explained that Barton called 911 sometime on Wednesday, seemingly “in distress. When asked by the press if the 23-year-old had been cooperative, Harding replied, “I guess.”

Due to California privacy laws, the officer would not reveal the location of Barton’s hospitalisation; however, it is believed that the former O.C. actress was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold – better known at 5150 – and then transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (the same place Britney Spears was held involunatarily twice in early 2008).

A source close to Barton says the actress had a “freak out” before calling for police assistance.

The actress was supposed to be attending the New York premiere of her new movie, Homecoming, tonight, but has since pulled out of the event.

Mischa Barton Slams Posh Beckham

In a recent interview with British tabloid The Sun, former O.C. star Mischa Barton has slammed Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham’s fashion sense, calling the style queen “not particularly stylish.”

The 22-year-old actress told The Sun: “Posh [Beckham] doesn’t strike me as particularly stylish.

“I don’t think she’s a good example of British style at all.”

Barton then went on to praise her own fashion sense, explaining that her simple, individual choices were what fans love most about her.

“I think the reason people like my style is that I do my own thing,” Barton added.

The Sun, who’ve previously labeled Beckham as a “global fashion icon,” weren’t impressed with Barton at all, and launched their own attack on the American star. The tabloid said that Barton was “usually pictured in disgusting get-ups falling out of clubs and her tops.” Ouch!

To add insult to injury, readers of the publication were asked to take part in a poll to see which was more stylish: Mischa Barton, or Victoria Beckham. So far, Posh is in the lead with 68 % of the vote.

Where In The World Is Mischa Barton?

Looks like Mischa Barton is missing in action.

Mischa is meant to be doing promotional work for her latest movie ‘You and I’, but has failed to turn up for any of her publicity calls.

She didn’t turn up for promotional duties in film at Cannes and has also failed to appear for any of her London appointments.

Not only has she not turned up for her scheduled interviews, she has pulled out of everything. She has a room in London and while she is reportedly in the UK, she has not been in her room or anywhere else she is meant to be.

‘You and I’ director Roland Joffe told BBC Radio that they have no idea where she is.

If she hasn’t had an accident or something dramatic, she will have some major explaining to do. Bender anyone?

Mischa Snubs Cannes Premiere of Lesbian Film

Former O.C. starlet Mischa Barton has been criticized for failing to attend the scheduled premiere of her new movie, You And I, in Cannes, because she thought the film was “awful” and “didn’t want to be involved in the project.”

Barton, who turned 22 in January, opted to party at Chopard’s Cannes bash instead of attending the premiere. She pulled out of all promotional work for the film earlier in the day, saying she was going home, but a source has revealed Mischa was still on the Riviera and drinking champers when You And I was due to debut.

The source apparently asked the young actress why she wasn’t at the premiere, to which Mischa snapped: “I was never due to go.” Not a very good argument, considering she was in partying in Cannes at the time.

In the film, Mischa plays one of two teenage girls who attend a t.A.T.u. concert in Moscow and fall in love. Bandmembers Lena and Yulia play themselves in the cross-continental film. As you all know, t.A.T.u. is the Russian girl band who’ve made a controversial come-back, appearing naked in their new music video for the track, Beliy Plachik.

The plotline is pretty simple: “[The girls] are swept into a dangerous world of obsession, drug abuse and murder.” Sounds a lot like the plot to Lindsay Lohan’s D-grade stripper romp, I Know Who Killed Me.
