Kanye West: “I’m The New King of Pop”

Michael Jackson may be the world’s King of Pop for all eternity, but according to Kanye West, once a pop icon is dead and gone, his seat on the top of the pops throne is well and truly vacated – and he knows just to appoint Jackson’s replacement: himself.

Yes, the ever affable West has declared himself as the next King of Pop, and even went as far as asking the Jackson family for their blessing in taking over the title.

Right. Because they’ve just lost their son, the first thing the Jacksons will think about it passing over the King of Pop crown.

Kanye told Scrape TV recently:

“You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on.”

The ego-inflated West continued: “There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Kanye managed to not only take a chop at Jackson, but at Elvis Presley as well – two of the world’s most beloved performers, all in the one sentence. Well, West is ‘King’ of something, that’s for sure, but I’m pretty certain the word I’m searching for isn’t ‘Pop.’

“First there was Elvis [Presley], then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it’s Kanye’s time to rule,” West added. “I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”

Is Kanye West even classified as a ‘pop’ artist? I thought he was more rap/r’n'b. Obviously he’s delusional and ridiculous, whatever his musical genre happens to be. He should hook up with Megan Fox. She’s ridiculous, too.

Kanye West “Shocked & Devastated” at Rihanna’s Assault

Kanye West has told of his shock over claims that his good friend Rihanna was assaulted by her boyfriend and music collaborator, rapper Chris Brown, on Sunday evening.

West, who performed at this year’s Grammy Awards, where Rihanna and Brown were set to perform before pulling out at the last minute, said that he was left “devastated” after being informed of the attack shortly before taking to the stage.

“I was completely devastated during the performance,” he said.

“Rihanna is so important to our culture… to pop music,” West continued. “I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level and her age… she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time.”

The singer has extended his support to the injured pop star, saying that he would do “everything” to help Rihanna, someone he considers family.

“I feel like [Rihanna's] my baby sis,” West said. “I would do any and everything to help her in any situation.”

While West said he didn’t want to speculate on how the assault came about, he insisted that in his mind, there could never be any excuse for battery. “I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s… [abuse] should never happen. It should never come to that place,” he said.

I’m pretty sure that’s the first sensible thing that’s ever come out of Kanye’s mouth. Now I’m in shock.

West Escapes Felony Charge

Kanye West has escaped a felony charge in his incident with the paparazzi at LAX, after Los Angeles prosecutors decided not to file charges in the vandalism case.

At this point in time, the prosecutors are “undecided” as to whether or not they will push forward with misdemeanor charges, but even if they do, West’s high-profile celebrity status should help pull him out of the shit.

West was arrested on September 11 for smashing a photographer’s still camera after the paparazzo attempted to take his picture at the airport. His attack was caught on camera by another paparazzo, and released to the internet shortly after the incident took place.

Kanye West Busted for Vandalism

Temperamental celeb Kanye West has been arrested for felony vandalism at LAX.

Apparently, Mr West went AWOL when he found a photog trying to take his picture at the American Airlines terminal, and smashed the journo’s still camera to the ground.

Unfortunately for Kanye, the photog he confronted wasn’t the only one there. A TMZ.com employee was also on the scene with a video camera, and had managed to catch the entire confrontation on tape. When Kanye and his bodyguard figured that out, they wrestled with the second photographer and threw the video camera to the ground, breaking it.

But Kanye wasn’t finished with the paps yet. Realising that his act of vandalism had been caught on tape, West “rushed” at the second photog again and yelled, “Gimme that f**king tape!”

The photogs were saved from further abuse when both Kanye and his bodyguard were taken into custody and booked.

Kayne West Loves Our Krystal

Remember Krystal Forscutt from Australian Big Brother 2006?

No? Well, perhaps you remember her better as one of the star models of Zoo Weekly magazine. Rap superstar Kayne West certainly does, anyway.

The singer, famous for his tantrum-throwing and diva-like antics, has just created a Krystal “shrine” on his personal blog, kanyeuniversity.com, with plenty of photos of Forscutt in bikinis and a biography on her life so far.

When she was told of her dedicated page on West’s blog, Forscutt was quite shocked and flattered, and even hinted at a hook-up between her and the rapper during her upcoming visit to America.

“I actually have never met Kayne, but I’m a big fan of his music,” Forscutt told the Daily Telegraph.

Knievel Sues Kanyevel

Spoilt brat rapper Kanye West is being sued by world-famous dare-devil, Evel Knievel, over the use of a rocket-propelled Skycycle and a stars and strips jumpsuit in Kanye’s film clip, Touch The Sky. (We all know which music video it is…it’s the one Kanye threw a hissy fit over when he didn’t win best video at a recent awards ceremony!)

In the lawsuit, Knievel claims that Kayne “infringed on his trademark name and likeness” in the film clip. He says that the white jumpsuit Kayne wore in the clip, and the ’skycycle’ he used, are trademarked. Knievel also claims that “vulgar and offensive” images in the clip damage his reputation.

Knievel is pushing for damages and the halt of distribution of the music video.

There has been no comment from Kanye’s rep as yet.

Kayne West – Poorest Loser

Kanye West was named best hip-hop artist at Thursday night’s MTV Europe Music Awards held in Copenhagen, but he probably didn’t win that one as convincingly as he won the poorest loser award.

The six-time Grammy-winning rapper, 29, was apparently so disgruntled at not winning best video for “Touch The Sky” – the prize went to Parisian duo Justice vs. Simian for “We Are Your Friends” – that he crashed the stage as the award was being handed out.

While calling everyone a bunch of fluffy wombats, West said he should have won the prize, because his video “cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it,” and, he added, “I was jumping across canyons.”

“If I don’t win, the awards show loses credibility,” West said, according to the Associated Press. Later, he said, “I had the best video. ‘Touch the Sky’ was a great moment in TV.”

The only one losing credibility here is Kayne.

He attributed the Justice vs. Simian win to some “spread the love bullsh–, ‘Oh everyone should have an award’. Please, press people, print ‘Kanye says f— that!” [Source]

Previous outbursts from Kanye include the 2004 American Music Awards, where, after losing the favorite breakthrough artist award to Gretchen Wilson, West told reporters, “I was robbed. … I was the best new artist this year,” and “I got 10 Grammy nominations, and won three – even if I should have won all 10.”

Don’t you just love these artists. Nothing like having respect for what others do is there. Maybe he needs to take a few Prozac and chill out a little more.

I would also advise Kayne to contact NASA, as there is a new planet in the solar system, with the Sun, the Moon and all the other planets orbiting around it; Planet Kanye, be sure to look out for it next time you are taking a walk at night.
