Katherine Heigl to be Axed From ‘Grey’s’?

It looks like Dr. Izzie’s time is almost up at the County General Hospital, with a possible death scene coming up in her storyline.

According to several sources from the set of the hit ABC series, Grey’s Anatomy, the actress who plays Izzie, Katherine Heigl, has annoyed the show’s producers so much that they want to take her out in the most spectacular way, and killing her off seems to be high on their list of priorities.

Creator Shonda Rhimes is said to be so “pissed off” over what Heigl said in the lead-up to this year’s Emmy Awards that she wants her off the show for good. Heigl infamously took herself out of the running for this year’s awards - despite winning a ‘Best Supporting Actress’ gong last year - because she felt the writers on Grey’s “failed to give her enough good material to work with last season.” Ouch.

The animosity towards Heigl has added unneeded stress to the set.

“It’s not good there,” a source said of the Grey’s Anatomy set. “Shonda is pissed. They’re thinking of killing [Izzie] off. They want Izzie dead.”

However, killing off Heigl’s character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, may be giving the actress just what she wants. Other sources have claimed that Heigl wants to ditch the hospital drama in favour of her budding film career, and would welcome the axing of her character with open arms.

“I haven’t heard anything about that,” a rep for Grey’s producer, Rhimes, said.

When contacted, reps for both Heigl and ABC refused to comment.

A Golden Globes Boycott?

Due to the continued strike of the Writer’s Guild of America (which has put many of the biggest shows on television on hold indefinitely), there’s been talk of a possible Golden Globes “boycott.”

A portion of the celebrities scheduled to attend the awards ceremony this season have apparently expressed their concern over the picket line that will be stationed near the red carpet. The celebs, which include Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and Entourage actor Jeremy Piven, have said that if the writer’s strike is still going when the awards take place, they won’t bother showing up.

Katherine Heigl Feels Unloved

Grey’s Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl, has dropped out of contract talks with the show’s execs over her salary, a source has revealed.

“Katie is disappointed and hurt that (producer) Touchstone doesn’t value her as much as her other costars, especially Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington,” the source said.

A rep for Touchstone had no comment on the issue.

I hope that doesn’t mean Katherine will be leaving the show soon…Izzie is my favourite character!!

Here’s What Katherine Heigl Thinks of Her Co-Star…

Awards ceremonies always seem to bring out the best in people…and alcohol always seems to give people the courage to speak their mind…

Katherine Heigl was under the influence of both alcohol and awards fever last night at the 2007 Golden Globes, where she told interviewer, Shaun Robinson, just what she thought of her Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Isaiah Washington, and his racial remark last year.

“I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I’m sorry, that did not need to be said, I’m not okay with it,” Katherine said last night.

She added: “I have no idea what it was, I just find it hurtful…I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it’s among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda [Rimes, show creator] and the producers.”

“I don’t think [Washington] means it the way he comes off…But, T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid. I will beat you up. I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings.”

“I don’t see how you could not be [hurt] under those circumstances. Drawing attention to it and saying the word again is just unnecessary.”

Meanwhile, Isaiah is still insisting that he’s never made a homosexual slur to anyone - especially not his Grey’s co-star, T.R. Knight.

On a lighter note…didn’t Katherine look beautiful last night??
