Well, Cameron’s certainly got a thing for the musos!

After ending her four-year relationship with egotistical singer Justin Timberlake last year, Shrek star Cameron Diaz has been linked to a number of famous men - including crazy magician Criss Angel and surfer Kelly Slater - and her latest catch is none other than Jessica Simpson’s sloppy second, John Mayer. The two have apparently been friends for some time, and have only recently decided to take their relationship to the next level.

Cam and her new boy toy were spotted together in New York last night looking pretty cosy and very comfortable with each other. “They went out to several places… It was the two of them, getting to know each other, out on the town,” a source told Us Weekly.

Another source explained that the date went very well, and Cam and John were able to use their earlier friendship as a good starting point. “This was technically not their first time hanging out… they’ve hung out together with friends before,” the source revealed. “But this was the first time together like this. It’s new and developing… but they really like each other and it went well.”

Reps for both stars refused to comment on the status of their relationship, and Mayer’s rep made sure to point out that there is no “comments on his personal life.”
