Britney’s Little Sister Pregnant at 16

Pop star Britney Spears’ 16-year-old sister, Jamie Lynn, is pregnant!
The young teen, who has a show called Zoey 101 on the children’s network Nickelodeon, is said to have told her parents about her pregnancy just before Thanksgiving, after waiting two weeks to get her head around the idea.
“It was a shock… so unexpected,” Jamie Lynn told OK! Magazine. “I was in complete and total shock and so was [my boyfriend, Casey].”
Jamie added that after she confirmed the shock pregnancy with a home test and a follow-up visit to the doctors, she told her closest friend only. Her confession to her parents and other family members came two weeks later.
“I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision,” Spears said. “Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”
Jamie Lynn’s mother, Lynne Spears, announced the news of her daughter’s pregnancy first to OK! Magazine, telling the mag that the young star was twelve weeks along and was expecting a child with her long-term boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
“I didn’t believe it [at first] because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious,” Lynne Spears said. “She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”
Casey’s mother, Joyce Aldridge, confirmed to TMZ.com that the news was in fact correct, and said that she was “aware of the recent interview regarding her and being pregnant” and that “[the Aldridge family is] in agreement with everything that was said by Jamie Lynn.”
“Everything is fine,” Joyce added to the paparazzi giant.
While Jamie Lynn is still a high school student, she’s been starring in the hit Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101 for the past three seasons. There’s no news as yet on whether her pregnancy will hinder her appearance on the show, however, Nickelodeon has released a statement today in response to her upcoming motherhood.
“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being,” the statement read.
A rep for the Spears clan has yet to comment on the news, though I’m not sure there’s really much else to say. It seems between the three Spears girls, they’ve managed to let the world’s press know of their latest addition to the Spears dynasty pretty effectively.
