Britney’s Father Breaks Down

Jamie Spears, the father of pop star Britney Spears, is struggling to come to terms with the extent of his daughter’s illness, and was seen breaking down shortly after her discharge this morning from Cedars-Sinai hospital in California.
“Jamie was really upset,” a source revealed earlier. “He was in tears. When he got to the house and realized the situation there, it broke him down.”
While he and Britney’s father/daughter relationship isn’t at its best at the present time, he was the only family member on the scene during her dramatic hospitalization, as his ex-wife Lynne and their younger daughter, Jamie-Lynn, were both at home in Louisiana.
The source added: “[Jamie] thought he understood what was going on. [But now] he doesn’t know what to do. Everyone is trying to figure out the best thing to do, but who knows what that is now.”
After Britney’s release this morning, a very distraught Jamie sought comfort from Dr. Phil McGraw, who was at the hospital to pay a visit to the troubled singer. Dr. Phil, whom Jamie considers a god-send, allegedly told Mr. Spears that Britney’s release was “one of the worst decisions that could have been made.”
