Britney Blames Parents For Rehab

Britney Spears is shifting the blame of her downward spiral and rehab stay all on her parents, despite the fact that they were the ones who helped her pick up the pieces once she’d been discharged.
Her father, Jamie Spears, explains that the derailed pop star is blaming her parents for “where she is at today with her kids and career,” and that she “was out of control” last year, during the craziness of her “crotchless” outings and the whole “shaving the head” incident.
He continued, saying that he was deeply sorry for his daughter’s behaviour towards her former manager, Larry Rudolph, who he believes only had Britney’s best interests at heart.
In a statement released to Page Six, Mr. Spears said:
“When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done. She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life.”
“The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter’s statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him.”
Of course, Britney retaliated to this statement, saying some quite hurtful things about her father and his character.
“I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship. It’s sad that all the men that have been in my life do not know how to accept a real woman’s love. I am concentrating on my work and my life right now,” Britney said in a statement released by her new rep.
A friend of Ms. Spears adds that Britney was “so embarrassed” about being forced into rehab, because she knew she had no drug or alcohol-related problems.
Apparently, Brits believed she was suffering from postpartum depression, and that the “head shaving” incident wasn’t outrageous behaviour at all, but an attempt at “solidarity” over her aunt’s recent death to cancer.
The friend says: “Britney’s aunt had just died of cancer. She was feeling very guilty because she hadn’t been there with her, she was overwhelmingly depressed and she shaved her head in solidarity.”
It sounds to me like Britney’s problems weren’t helped at all by her stay in rehab, and although her parents aren’t to blame for her destructive behaviour, she does have a point. Being forced into rehab wasn’t what she needed at the time – I think her problems are a lot more serious than substance abuse, and if her self-diagnsos of depression is correct, she needs to spend time in a hospital…
