Bindi TV Show On Hold

Bindi Irwin

Bindi Irwin’s 26 episode TV series ‘Bindi the Jungle Girl’ is being put on hold for at least a year.

Steve Irwin’s friend and manager John Stainton says he is taking a year’s holiday and filming for the 26-episode “animal encounter” series would not begin again until his return.

He deinied Mr Stainton denied his impending break was due to all the recent adverse publicity surrounding Bindi’s expanding media role.

“I can’t understand what all the fuss is about,” Mr Stainton said.

Referring to Liberal Senator Bill Heffernan, Stainton said “As far as I know, only one person has said this. That’s not public opinion, it’s something the media has created.”

The US-based Discovery Channel yesterday said it had been prepared to shelve the project after Bindi’s father Steve died in September.

Publicist Annie Howell said Bindi and her mother Terri were still keen to make the series and that there had been no pressure from the network.

As I said yesterday, If they wanted to manage it better they should pull back a little bit before they get too much of a backlash.

Looks like they must read Staralicious and took the advice.
