Aussie Escapes American Idol Eviction

Aussie singer Michael Johns has survived the latest round of evictions and will be mentored by country music queen Dolly Parton.
Recent shaky performances were forgotten as the 29-year – old pumped out rousing renditions of Queen’s We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.
The judges and audience were blown away with Michael’s performance and said it was his shining moment and the first example of his star potential.
Michael is now into the final nine contestants and will work with celebrity mentor, Dolly Parton, something of an idol herself to Michael,as the first concert Johns ever attended was Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ Islands in the Stream tour.
The other celebrity mentors for 2008 will be Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Each mentor will help the finalists prepare for their Wednesday night performances and then take the Idol stage themselves to perform on the Thursday night results show.
The program, now in its seventh series, is being aired on pay TV channel Fox8 in Australia.
