Aussie Big Brother Housemate’s Father Dies

Aussie Big Brother housemate Emma Cornell’s father has died, but the producers have reportedly not told Emma.
Raymond Cornell died of cancer in an Adelaide hospice last Wednesday, aged 53. His dying wish was that she not be told until after she has left the house.
Emma’s boyfriend, Tim Stanton says:
Her dad didn’t want her to be upset or to feel like she had to leave the house to come to his funeral. He didn’t want to ruin the experience for her.
She might be upset when she comes out and finds out what has happened, but I think she’ll understand.
Emma, 24, had recently renewed contact with her father via text messages after a six year estrangement.
When she went into Big Brother, he watched every episode, Mr Stanton said.
I think he felt like he was finally getting to know his daughter.
The funeral was held on Monday, but Mr Stanton said the family would hold a private memorial service when Emma came out.
He said even though she knew her father was gravely ill, news of his death would shock Emma because he was not expected to die so soon.
I can’t say I agree with this decision. I think the most appropriate thing to do would have been to inform her and let her make up her own mind.
It might also have been a good idea to inform her when his condition started to deteriorate prior to his death. It is only a Reality TV show after all.
