Ashlee Simpson Engaged
Ashlee Simpson and her 28-year-old rocker boyfriend, Pete Wentz, are engaged, Usmagazine.com has revealed.
A rep for the 23-year-old singer confirmed the news today. “Yes, they are happily engaged.”ÂÂ
Ashlee added: “I’m really happy!” ÂÂ
News of the quick engagement has prompted many entertainment sources to suppose that the young singer is pregnant, but neither Simpson nor her new fiance, Wentz, would comment on the rumour. There’s no baby bump visible yet, but it wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity couple got hitched in a hurry after finding out they were expecting.
Ashlee posted a statement regarding her shock engagement to friendsorenemies.com. The statement reads: “We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged.”
A source close to the couple added that they’re both really excited, and hints that a wedding will be on the horizon sooner than we think.
“They are ecstatic and can’t wait to be man and wife,” said the source. “They will be getting married before the end of the year.”
Simpson began dating Fall Out Boy leading man Wentz back in late 2006.
