Anger Over Bindi Irwin Website

A former Australia Zoo employee has caused outrage among Steve Irwin fans, after purchasing the web address of bindiirwin.com.

Wayne Smith of Brisbane has been attacked and accused of trying to make money off the young girl’s name, and also “for hosting links to several anti-Israel and other politically charged websites.” One such site which made a prominent appearance on bindiirwin.com was another Smith-owned web address called fuckisrael.org, which Smith said he created because he “disagreed” with the policies of foreign countries.

Smith has released a statement on the site in defense, and says: “The main reason I purchased [the domain name] was to keep it out of the hands of advertising agencies.”

“Another reason I purchased it was because I knew that it would draw a lot of visitors and I enjoy running message boards.”

“I’m also a wildlife enthusiast who once worked at Australia Zoo as a volunteer with the Crocodile Team.”

The Irwin clan says they are “disgusted” at the way their old employee has exploited young Bindi’s name, and adds that it’s “inappropriate” to associate her with such outlandish political sites.

Smith has now handed over ownership of the site to the Irwin family.
