Burn Notice Star Nabbed for DUI
Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan has just joined the long list of celebrity DUI’s after he was caught under the influence and behind the wheel in Miami Beach last weekend.
The 41-year-old was arrested on suspicion of DUI last Sunday, July 12th, according to TMZ.com, and after snapping a photo or two for the cop shop, was later released.
The arresting officer told the celebrity gossip site that Donovan was cooperative, but didn’t think he should be arrested because he was only “borderline” drunk.
“I really think I’m only borderline and not too drunk,” the actor said, after swerving and screeching his tyres to avoid hitting a stationary police car.
When asked what he’d been doing, Donovan allegedly told the officer: “Sorry, I didn’t see the red light or your stopped car.”
The cop said he was alerted to the actor’s excessive drinking by “a strong odour of alcohol,” and when he asked Donovan if he’d had anything to drink, the star replied: “I had three drinks at the Fontainebleau.”
He was then taken into custody and officially charged with one count of DUI – something that could see the actor serve up to 6 months in prison.
While Donovan’s rep had no comment on the charge, the actor himself said that his only mistake he’d made was that he “[drank] Benadryl with 3 glasses of wine.”

Harry Potter Star Pleads Guilty to Drugs Charges

The actor, best known for his portrayal of Slytherin Vincent Crabbe in the hit Warner Bros. franchise, was arrested last April after he was found by police with eight bags of marijuana in his car. A subsequent raid on his home in Camden – which the 19-year-old shared with his mother – resulted in the confiscation of ten cannabis plants.
Waylett’s hearing took place at the Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London on Thursday, and was adjourned until July 21.
He faces a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison for the production of a Class-B drug.

Hollywood Sentenced to Life in Prison
After two days of deliberations, jurors have recommended life in prison for notorious criminal Jesse James Hollywood in the 2000 kidnap-and-murder of a 15-year-old West Hills boy.
The 29-year-old former marijuana dealer was spared the death penalty when jurors handed down their decision in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, making Hollywood the fifth to be charged and convicted in connection to the slaying of Nicholas Markowitz over a $1,200 drug debt incurred by the boy’s elder half-brother, Ben.
Of the four others who were convicted, only one was sentenced to death – gunman and Hollywood “lacky,” Ryan Hoyt.
The crime inspired the 2006 film Alpha Dog, starring Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake and Anton Yelchin.

Terminator: Salvation Review

I’m not here for Bale.
I’m not here for the machines, or the action, or even to see if McG’s direction lived up to the hype.
I’m here for Marcus Wright, the character played by relatively unknown Australian actor, Sam Worthington.
From the very first scene, in which Worthington smoulders as a death row inmate with attitude, I know I’m going to get my money’s worth. His chiselled good looks and steely expressions mean I don’t particularly care why he’s in prison and about to meet his death by lethal injection (he killed his brother and a couple of cops, just for clarification), and his deep, ‘I’ve-had-a-hard-life’ voice has already made me forget this is supposed to be a Christian Bale film.
I’m not long reminded of that fact, though I must admit to being a little shocked. I thought this was a continuation of the Terminator franchise, not the latest instalment in the new Batman series. You’d forgive me for being confused if you’ve seen the film – Bale’s first moments on screen are a near-perfect replica of his performance in Dark Knight.
Maybe it’s just the excessive amount of dust in the air playing havoc with his lungs? I find out later that no, his Dark Knight-esque voice has nothing to do with dust, gut-busting battle sequences, or even helicopter crashes that should kill a man – he pretty much stays in the raspy, monotonic Batman character for the entire movie.
But enough about Bale. I’m not here for Bale; I’m here for Worthington.
And he doesn’t disappoint.
Between his smoking hot, undeniable attractiveness and the continual, yet not-over-the-top husky quality to his dialogue (I’m pretending I didn’t notice the little slips in his accent) Worthington steals the show as the troubled, yet totally likable, Marcus Wright. The sixty seconds or so where he’s butt naked and covered head to toe in wet mud only manages to strengthen his role as the best damn thing this movie has to offer.
I’m not going to bore you with any more details concerning the plot, because, let’s face it, if you’re a woman like me, you’re not going to go see Terminator: Salvation for the plot.
You’re going to see it for Worthington.
Or maybe, if you’re of the Gen Y variety, for Kyle Reese, aka Anton Yelchin.
Yelchin was a relative unknown before Salvation hit the theatres – much like Worthington – but I think I can safely predict that this young man will be starring in plenty a fangirlish fantasy before the year is out.
He had some pretty big shoes to fill, though: Michael Beihn circa 1984? ‘Nuff said! Still, the 20-year-old embraces the role of iconic Resistance fighter Reese with gusto, and I have to say by the end of it, he had me reeled in completely – hook, line and sinker.
There’s something about Yelchin’s baby-faced good looks that had even this seasoned swooner literally chomping at the bit for more. Maybe it’s his one-handed shotgun cock that got me (a move the actor is supremely proud of), maybe it’s his filthy, tattered, and (shockingly) hot fingerless gloves that seem to be a staple accessory in his wardrobe and never failed to get this reviewer’s blood pumping, or maybe it’s the fact that almost every scene Reese appears, Worthington’s Marcus is right there with him.
Whatever it is, Salvation’s combination of Worthington, the ever-effulgent Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood’s stellar ass-kicking ability, and a certain naked Californian governor that gets his face melted off, has left me parched, panting, and absol-friggin-lutely ready for more.
Yeah, I should have ordered the jumbo Pepsi. Oh well, there’s always next time, I suppose!
Reviewer side-note: I’ve seen this movie twice now since it’s Australian cinematic release. I’m not going to speak for the plot, since I’m sure its got plot-holes galore scattered throughout, but the two actors mentioned above more than make up for anything lacking in the plot department. Seriously, they’re that hot!
Terminator: Salvation in is theatres across Australia now.

Britney Spears has spoken candidly for the first time since her very public breakdown in January, labeling her current life as worse than a prison sentence.
The pop star explained that although things are still tough, she’s slowly healing one day at a time.
“I have really good days, and then I have bad days,” the 26-year-old said in a new 90-minute documentary - Britney: For The Record – set to air at the end of the month.
Spears continued: “Even when you go to jail, y’know, there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like [the Bill Murray movie] Groundhog Day.”
“I’m having to pay for it for a really long time,” she added.
She adds, “I’m having to pay for it for a really long time.”
Since her hospitalisation in January, Spears has undergone several mental evaluations, lost the custody of her sons – Sean Preston and Jayden James – to ex-husband Kevin Federline, and had the control of her estate and professional affairs turned over to her father, Jamie Spears.
During her many months of healing, Spears explained that she felt like she wasn’t been seen in “the light that [she] wanted to be seen in,” and decided to film a documentary in order to show the honest truth of the situation.
A camera crew has spent the last three months following the singer around, and the result is 90 minutes of complete and utter honesty on Spears’ part.
“This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I’ve been through and where I’m headed,” Spears said of the documentary.
The Toxic singer added: “I think I’ve learned my lesson now, and enough it enough.”
Britney: For The Record will air on U.S television on November 30 on MTV and on December 1 on Sky1 in the U.K..

Anne Hathaway’s notorious ex-beau Raffaello Follieri was today sentenced to serve 4½ years in prison, after pleading guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.
In addition to his prison sentence – which will be served at either the Fort Dix, N.J. or Otisville, N.Y. centres – the 30-year-old Italian will have to pay $1,400 to the United States government in “special assessment” fees, and serve three years under supervision after his release.
Follieri admitted that he was “ashamed” at what he’d done, and took full responsibility for the crimes he’d committed.
He said in a statement: “The most important thing I want the court to know is I was not raised with bad values. … I started off with good intentions, determined to run an honorable business and make everyone proud of me.
“What I did was wrong and there is no point in making excuses. … I will never be able to wash away the shame. … I just hope that someday those who have been hurt by my actions will forgive me.”
Follieri’s next hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 12.

Hathaway Breaks Silence on Former Boyfriend’s Arrest

For the first time since splitting with Raffaello Follieri, Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has broken her silence on her former flame’s shock arrest in June.
“As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for Get Smart,” Hathaway told W magazine. “And then I spent a week in shock at a friend’s house.”
“It’s a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden,” Hathaway said of the incident. “But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, ‘Go stay at my house.’
“And [Get Smart co-star] Steve Carell stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question [about it]. He said, ‘At some point you’re going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don’t have to do it this week. I’ll take care of anything that comes your way.’”
The Princess Diaries star added: “I’ve been shown such kindness. Not everyone gets that. A lot of people go through tough times alone.”
Incidentally, Hathaway called it quits with Follieri over the phone “just hours” before he was arrested for money laundering and fraud. Follieri has since pleaded guilty to all charges, and will serve more than four years in prison for his crimes.
Sounds like Anne got out just in the nick of time!

FBI Seize Hathaway’s Private Diaries
July 25, 2008 by Amber
She might have dumped the crook, but ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri just won’t seem to quite go away.
Hathaway has done her best to distance herself from her ex, and has severed all communications with the Italian stud, but that hasn’t stopped the FBI from zeroing in on the Get Smart star and confiscating a number of her personal belongings.
The FBI have taken Hathaway’s private journals, in the hopes that somewhere in their pages, evidence of Follieri’s criminal financial dealings will be revealed.
As well as her secret diaries, the FBI also took a number of photos of Follieri with Hathaway, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Pope John Paul II, and the McCains, and also various documents, watches, a Tiffany clock and an antique Bible.
Follieri was dumped by Hathaway shortly before he was imprisoned and charged with 11 counts of fraud and money laundering. He still remains in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.

Kardashian Released Early Due to Bomb Threats
July 22, 2008 by Amber
There’s plenty of preferential treatment when it comes to the law for the stars of today, but Khloe Kardashian insists her early release from prison had nothing to do with her celebrity status.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star revealed on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radion show that she was sent home early because of a number of bomb threats on the prison itself. According to Khloe, the prison wardens blamed her for the threats, and wanted her out quick-smart in the hopes that the threats would stop.
“As soon as I got to Lynwood, there were three bomb threats, and so they put me in solitary confinement,” Khloe said on the radio show Monday morning.
“A warden came down to see me and said, ‘You’re the one causing all the problems here… There’s all these bomb threats, and we’re thinking it’s for you.’
“They released me early because I was a threat to the prison.”
Kardashian added: “There’s 2,500 inmates in there, and they [had] 2,515 [when I was there]. So they were overcrowded, but [my release was] because of the hysteria.”
“The whole prison was on lockdown,” the 24-year-old continued. “It was actually really scary.”
However, despite the hysteria, Kardashian was still forced to watch an educational video about “how to be a good inmater, how to avoid staph infections,” something she says will stick in her mind for a long time to come.
“[It] was an intense video… disgusting visuals,” Khloe said.
Though she was only in the slammer for a short time, that doesn’t mean the reality star has been let off the hook. Kardashian confirmed that she still has to attend all of her classes and pay a fine for her DUI conviction (which she blamed on the death of her father).
“”I still have to go and do all of my classes and everything else and still pay. It’s so much money!” she whined. “It’s been heartache for my family.”
The reality star was originally due to serve time in a downtown Los Angeles county jail, but was moved to the Lynwood, California facility because of some unknown “complications.” She was booked in on Friday, but was released just 173 minutes later, making her prison stay one of the shortest for a celebrity in recent times.
Since her release, Kardashian has vowed that she’s learnt her lesson, and will “never” drink and drive again.
“One drink, and you could get pulled over!” she said. “Have a friend drive you, leave your car there, it’s not worth it.”
