New Moon ‘50 Times Darker’ Than Twilight

It’s time to scream ‘OME’ again, Twilighters! The film’s leading man – er, vampire – has just divulged a juicy piece of gossip from the set of the next installment, New Moon.

During this year’s Oscars red carpet walk, star Robert Pattinson let slip that the newest film in the series would be “50 times darker” than its predecessor.

“My character goes 50 times darker than he did in the first movie,” Pattinson hinted. He also said that the filming of New Moon will officially start within the next few weeks in Canada.

Meanwhile, co-star Ashley Greene (who plays Robert’s adopted sister, Alice), said she was “so excited” that the sequel was only weeks from shooting.

“I finally, finally got the script… and it’s good,” Greene gushed. “I like it better than the first one. I might be biased [though], because I have a bigger part.”

Despite filming only starting in March, New Moon is still slated for release in November of this year. A little jibe at the Harry Potter creators, perhaps, that you don’t have to spend years on a film to create a blockbuster.

Miley Says, “Adopt Me, Brangelina!”

On the Oscars red carpet last night, troubled tween starlet Miley Cyrus told a dapper Ryan Seacrest that she wants serial adopter, Angelina Jolie, to adopt her.

Cyrus informed Seacrest that she planned on stalking Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, throughout the evening “because [Jolie is] beautiful and I love her, and she can adopt me.”

Since she’s only from Tennessee, I don’t think she’d be quite foreign enough for the Jolie-Pitts. Maybe Miley would have better luck with the Lopez-Anthonys… or Jessica Simpson.

Ledger Wins Oscar

Heath Ledger has been given the perfect closing curtain over his stellar career, winning a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his performance as the Joker in the film The Dark Knight.

The late actor’s win has also been written into the history books, as only the second person in Oscars history to win a posthumous gong. Ironically enough, the only other actor to achieve such a feat was fellow Australian Peter Finch, who won for The Network in 1982.

Ledger’s family – father Kim, mother Sally Bell and sister Kate Ledger – accepted the honour on behalf of their son, who passed away from a drug overdose in early 2008.

“This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath’s quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here — his peers within an industry he so loved,” a very emotional Kim Ledger told the crowd.

Sally Bell said that the family was “truly overwhelmed by the honour and respect bestowed on him with [the] award.” She added that her son was a “compassionate and generous soul who had greatly inspired their lives.”

The Brokeback Mountain actor had long been a favourite to win the award, with some punters betting as much as $110, 000 on the near-certainty.

[WARNING: Image Heavy] The most talked about Oscars in years has just kicked off, with stars from across the globe gracing the red carpet for the 2009 awards ceremony.

This year’s arrivals wore a multitude of fashions, with mermaid-tail dresses, the LBD, and excessive bling the standouts. Actresses Amy Adams, Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz shone particularly bright in their understated gowns.

Summit Announces Third Twilight Film

Summit Entertainment is preaching to the hearts of many a young Twilight fan, announcing that the third installment in the series – made famous by Stephenie Meyer’s addicting novels of vampire romance at high school – will be released June 30 2010.

The second film in the series, New Moon, is currently in production, and will be released on November 20 of this year, leaving very little time for the actors of the franchise to take a breather before jumping head-first into the third, Eclipse.

Summit has also revealed the series’ official name: “The Twilight Saga”.

All original stars of the first film are said to reprise their roles in all subsequent sequels, which leaves even more for fans of the series to rejoice about.

Nicole Richie Preggers Again

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are expecting another child!

The Good Charlotte frontman’s reality television star beau is pregnant once more, just over a year after welcoming daughter Harlow Winter Kate into the world.

Madden broke news of Richie’s pregnancy on his band’s official website, under the heading, “Better than winning an OSCAR!”

“I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister! God has truly blessed my family,” Madden wrote. “Hope [you're] all feeling as good as I am right now.”

Reps for both Madden and Richie have refused to comment on the news.

Lily Allen Googles Herself 10 Times Each Day

Lily Allen is a bit of an irrelevance to me, which she should enjoy reading, on one of her forays in the Googling herself 10 times each day.

The latest inane statement to come out of her mouth is her desire to shed her clothes in front of the cameras.

Hasn’t she already flashed enough flesh that no one wanted to see?

“I’m just very comfortable in my body,” she admits to Extra in an interview. “I wouldn’t do it in a ‘Hey-Look-At-My-Boobs kind of way. ‘ ”

On her gogling activities, she had this to say:

“I Google myself about ten times a day and that’s the truth,” she says of keeping up with the latest gossip. “They bother me if they’re inaccurate in which case I sue… In which case it doesn’t bother me because I make money out of it!”

Kind of a contradiction whouldn’t you say? They bother her if they’re inaccurate in which case she sues… In which case it doesn’t bother her.More like she gets her revenge.

A word of advice, keep your clothes on, as very few people really want to see you naked. Now, if you were Katy Perry, that would be a different thing.

Naomi Watts Says Hollywood Actors Shouldn’t Take A Pay Cut

After stupidly appearing naked on her balcony last week, Naomi Watts has done something far less endearing.

Naomi Watts doesn’t agree with suggestions that Hollywood actors should take a pay cut during the current global financial crisis.

Showing just how much of a sheltered and privileged life she leads, Watts says:

“I think we may be more open to negotiation but I think the art world tends to thrive in times of recession.

We need the escapism. We need stories to be told for us to take ourselves away from the reality of our situations or circumstance.”

Yeah, and people need money to live and spare change to go to the cinema to watch the movies, that gives you the luxury of making such a stupid statement when you are pulling in more money per picture, than most people will ever make in their lifetime.

I don’t think anyone has a crux with the income; good luck to her, but try not to be so disjointed from the reality of the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression that you make such a stupid statement.

Is that the fanometre I can see rapidly going backwards?

Bilson & Christensen Engaged

Rachel Bilson and her lightsaber-toting beau, Hayden Christensen, are engaged, according to reports.

The couple, who met and hooked up while filming the 2008 sci-fi film, Jumper, got engaged over the Christmas holidays, a close friend of Bilson’s has revealed.

“They’re so excited,” the friend said. “They’re a great couple. Rachel seems thrilled beyond belief.”

No wedding date has been set as yet, the pal added.

When contacted for confirmation on the surprise engagement, reps for both Bilson and Christensen refused to comment.

“I don’t comment on my clients’ personal lives,” Bilson’s rep said.

Bilson, who got her big break in teen series The O.C., previously dated Adam Brody (another co-star!), and came close to marrying him before the pair split in 2006.
