Australia Wins Cricket World Cup!!!

Congratulations to the Australian Cricket Team for winning the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the early hours of this morning (my time) in the West Indies.

It was a great game, with the Aussies snatching the Cup over opponents Sri Lanka with a 53 run win. Pity that it had to be limited to 38 overs with the rain.

Another congratualtions to Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, who easily won best player of the series during his final competitive cricket game. Well done, Glenn, and happy retirement!!!

Cameron Chased By Paparazzi

We’ve heard from Hugh Grant and Tobey Maguire on their latest “run-ins” with pesky photographers (granted Maguire’s was just a fan), and now Cameron Diaz is reported to have had a “close encounter” of her own.

The Charlie’s Angels actress was “chased” around a fancy clothing store in New York earlier in the week, when her private shopping trip was interrupted by a “small army” of photographers, who’d snuck in the back entrance.
A source explained: “She was enjoying a peaceful day of shopping for some new summer dresses, jewellery and shoes when they (the photogs) surrounded her.”

“Cameron totally freaked out, screamed and dropped the items she was going to buy and was chased through the store. She was running full speed.”

At least she didn’t hit them with a pair of stiletto heels… or a tub of baked beans…

Hayden Panettiere: “Bloggers Are Mean”

The blonde cheerleader from Heroes, Hayden Panettiere, has told People that she thinks bloggers are mean.

She said: “You go on these internet blogs and people say the meanest things. I’m a normal person. Just because I’m in the spotlight doesn’t mean I’m God’s gift to the world. I’m learning and making mistakes just like every other 17-year-old girl out there.”

Now, while I think that Hayden does have a point with what she’s said - yes, bloggers are mean, and as a celebrity blogger, I fully admit to being needlessly mean on occasion - there’s one easy solution to keep everyone happy… DON’T READ THEM!!!

When Celebrities Attack 2: Tobey Maguire

Following in the footsteps of Sienna Miller (and more recently, Hugh Grant), Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire got a little rough with a fan, knocking the camera right out of his hands!

Tobey was walking back to his hotel in Paris, when a fan that was strolling beside him decided to take a short snap for a souvenir, holding the camera in front of the actor’s face.

Whether Tobey was having a bad day or had just had one too many cameras shoved in his face remains to be seen, but instead of asking for the fan to remove the digital device nicely, the star simply hit it out of the way.

The force of the slap was so strong that it ripped the camera from the fan’s hands, smashing it on the pavement.

All I can say is, Tobey must have been wearing his black “spidey suit” underneath his clothes that day…

Jennifer Love Hewitt Sued

Pap powerhouse TMZ is reporting that sexy celeb Jennifer Love Hewitt is being sued by her former management team.

The lawsuit was filed today in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, with management company Handprint Management claiming that Miss Love owes them a hunk of cash for “brokering the seven-year deal for her hit show, The Ghost Whisperer.”

The court documents accuse Love of breaching her contract with Handprint Management, who state that her career had been on the back burner prior to their assistance with obtaining the leading role in the new hit show.

They say that it was their hard work that brought Jen “back to national prominence as a television star.”

Jennifer broke her contract with Handprint in March 2005, and while she paid the management company in full for the first season of Whisperer, they say they are yet to receive payment for the second.

Handprint is seeking a minimum of $350,000 in damages.

Brad Misses Jen

A new story in Life & Style Weekly claims that Brad Pitt made a desperate call to his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, because she was the only one he could talk to who would understand him.

It’s a widely-known fact that the Troy star and his current squeeze, Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, are going through a rough patch in their relationship, and these problems are said to be what drew Brad to give Jen a call.

A source revealed: “Brad told Jen that he missed being with a woman who was his best friend.”

The conversation then became so intense between the exes that Pitt reportedly blurted: “I think I made a huge mistake leaving you.”

Although both reps deny this exchange took place, the source added: “There’s no doubt Brad would love to have Jen back.”

I know he and Angie are having some difficulties with the adoption issue, but I really doubt that he’d leave her for Jen… and even if he did, I’d really hate to see Jen take him back.

Lohan’s former publicist revealed earlier this month that the Mean Girls star liked the company of women, but the rumour was slammed by her rep… however, a number of club goers in Tokyo witnessed first-hand that there might be some truth behind those claims after all…

The 20-year-old actress is said to have been caught in a passionate embrace with DJ pal Sam Ronson, who’s 9 years her senior.

A witness said: “They just started making out right there like they didn’t care who saw them.”

“Everyone knows they are more than just friends. They are lovers. Maybe because they were across the globe they didn’t think anyone would notice.”

According to another source, the loved-up pair get together when ever Lindsay is without a boyfriend.

Sandra’s Stalker Attacks Hubby

Actress Sandra Bullock and her 10-year-old step-son were forced to watch on in horror, as a crazed stalker attempted to run over husband Jesse James.

Police sources say that Marcia Valentine, a woman obsessed with the Forces of Nature star, “attempted 3 or 4 times to run Jesse James over with her silver Mercedes” outside the couple’s Orange County home late Sunday night.

Although Jesse was never actually hit during the attack, it was a frightening experience for Sandra and James’ young son to witness.

After trying unsuccessfully to injure James, Valentine then got out of her car and “laid in the driveway and wouldn’t move.”

When police arrived on the scene, the stalker had already taken off. An extensive man-hunt was untaken, and Valentine was apprehended early Monday morning, where she remains in custody.

Bullock’s rep released a statement to TMZ a short while ago:

“This incident did occur. Both Jesse James and Sandra Bullock are fine and it is now in the hands of the authorities.”

Hugh Arrested For Attacking Pap With Beans

British actor Hugh Grant, 46, is in trouble with the law again, having been arrested for allegedly attacking a photographer with a family-sized tub of baked beans!

Grant is said to have kicked Ian Whittaker three times, while the pap attempted to photograph the star near his West London home. Whittaker says that after the repeated kicks, Grant picked up a “large carton of baked beans” and threw them at him, leaving him “bruised, battered and covered in a sticky mess.”

But the abuse didn’t stop there, with Whittaker claiming it turned from physical to verbal. The photographer says that Grant asked him whether or not he had children, and after replying “yes”, the star spat: “I hope they die of f**king cancer!”

Police wouldn’t comment on whether or not it was Hugh who was arrested, but they did confirm that a 46-year-old man was taken in to custody and later released on bail, to return next month.

While Hugh can’t deny that he physically abused the photographer, as another pap managed to capture it on film, he does deny the claims that he “cursed Whittaker’s children.”

Kate Beckinsale: “Anorexics Are Like Crack Whores!”

Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale has angered the British media, making an “insensitive” statement which likened anorexic teens to “crack whores.”

The star said in a recent interview:

“I believe anorexia, alcoholism and drug abuse in teens are more about what is happening in the home than a problem with images in the media.”

“It is the nice girl’s way of becoming a crack whore.”

Miss Beckinsale, 33, explains that she herself suffered from the deadly illness when she was just 15, so she’s not speaking from lack of experience. She says that she blames her mother’s second relationship with director Roy Battersby for starting her down the self-destructive path of weight loss.
“I was convinced I was going to be relegated, that [Roy] would sell the house where I had always lived and it would be awful.”

“I got to the stage [in my illness] where I think I was about to die. I had no energy and my main goal was to be able to stand up. Finally I realised I had to choose between being a person or a professional anorexic.”

“You can’t commit to anything else when your mind is exhausted and homed in on one thing.”

Kate might have past experiences with the illness, but that doesn’t give her the right to be so critical and rude… or so Ros Ponomarenko-Jones, the mother of a 19-year-old girl who died last year from anorexia, believes…

“[I felt] completely insulted,” Ms. Ponomarenko-Jones said.

“She (Beckinsale) has been totally flippant and does not really know what she is talking about. She is not giving anorexia the status it deserves as a mental illness.”

“I think she needs to go an eating disorder unit and speak to some of the girls there, where she would find out it is not always about what is happening in the home.”

“They look up to celebrities and if they are thin, the girls take that on board and think if they look skinnier, they will have friends and live better lives. She has been completely irresponsible.”
Looks like Kate’s opened a pretty big can of worms with this comment…
