Cruise Denies Scientology Rumours

Yes he is still a member, the rumours had nothing to do with him leaving the religion. The rumours Tom is denying are to do with him begging his Scientology church leaders to provide him with funding for future movie projects after being dropped by former investor Paramount last week.

The actor has just signed a lucrative deal with a financial conglomerate.

However, recent reports suggested that he had earmarked the Church of Scientology’s coffers as back-up should the deal fall through.

A spokeswoman for his production company, Cruise-Wagner, slams the story as “completely untrue”.

Blink-182 Becomes +44

Looks like Travis Barker’s found something to keep his mind off his increasingly volatile breakup with wife Shanna Moakler: a new band. With Blink-182 idling on “indefinite hiatus” and the group’s singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge forming a new band, Angels & Airwaves, Barker and Blink mate Mark Hoppus are teaming up for a new project of their own, +44.

According to an announcement on Blink-182’s Website, +44 (pronounced “Plus 44″) takes its name from the international dialing prefix for the United Kingdom. The newly minted band will release its debut album, When Your Heart Stops Beating, via Interscope on Nov. 14.

In addition to playing bass, Hoppus will assume full vocal chores for the new project. Joining the duo will be guitarist Shane Gallagher, late of the Nervous Return, and Craig Fairbaugh, who played with Barker in the now-defunct Transplants. [Source]

Proof – Scientology Cures Homosexuality

I think I remember a lawsuit involving Scientology where it was claimed that John Travolta once stated that Scientology cured him of his homosexuality. Now I am not sure if it was true or not. I mean he seems like a straight up guy. He is also married to one very hot lady. However, there is something very unusual about this picture. I know JT has Italian ancestry, so perhaps this is simply nothing more then a European tradition but they both boarded the plane together in hamilton, Ontario.

Gwen Stefani’s publicist Dave Tomberlin confirmed that Gwen is not snubbing the VMAs and plans to bypass this year’s ceremony because she’s “too busy with Fashion Week to attend.” Please! Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. You make time to attend the VMAs.

The MTV Video Music Awards will kick off tonight at 6:30PM in New York City with a red carpet/pre-show (where Gwen happens to be staying). We’ll see if Gwen’s a no show or not. [Source]

Katie Couric ‘Loses’ 20 Lbs. – Digitally

Vanity, thy name is not Katie Couric.

The incoming CBS Evening News anchor is taking in good stride articles in both the New York Post and the city’s Daily News that show a photo of her in CBS promotional magazine Watch! that was digitally altered to make her look about 20 lbs. thinner.

“I liked the first picture better because there’s more of me to love,” quipped the former Today host, according to the Daily News.

Couric, 49, also said she was unaware that the photo – taken at CBS’s May upfront presentation to advertisers – would be touched up until the September issue of Watch! crossed her desk. (The publication goes to CBS stations and to passengers aboard American Airlines.) [Source]

Updated Image Functions

OK, I have made another update improvement to the site, this time for the image functionality. This update is effective from the Rene Russo posting onwards. When you click on one of the thumbnail images, the browser window will darken slightly, and a larger version of the image will appear over the top.

When there is a series of thumbnails, you can navigate to the next image by simply moving your mouse while it is over the image. When you do this an arrow will appear on the right edge of the image. Click on this to go to the next image. Likewise to go back to a previous image, click on the arrow on the left edge. To close the images, move your mouse to the bottom of the image and click close.

Hope this makes the images more fun to view.

She began rehearsals on Monday morning.
